With the New York Comic Con just over the horizon I thought that it would be an opportune time to discuss anything and everything related to it.  I am particularly interested in hearing from anyone who has purchased in-person autographs from any of the scheduled guests in the recent past.  Although I will not be attending this year other collectors who plan on attending may need to determine how much money to bring and any help would be great.  Thanks in advance for any information that you are able to provide.

McDiarmid is also appearing at the Dallas Comic Con in October and the site indicates he is $125. So I think it's a safe bet he will be that much or more in NYC.

It appears he may be a semi-regular on the show circuit. If so, the FMV of his sig will drop fast with so much supply being added. Let's face it, he is a desirable sig for Star Wars collectors only for the most part. Once that niche gets its fill, demand will plummet and he may be sitting at a table with no line like Lou Ferrigno.

Still debating if I am going to NYCC. I'd like to go but it's a hassle and expense to get there. Two years ago when I went the crowds were nearly intolerable, and I heard it was even worse last year.

I plan on arriving at 8:00 AM so hopefully that will make things more tolerable but I expect a chaotic experience.  Saturday tickets are sold out so hopefully they anticipated a proper number to sell.

Last time I seen Adam West ( year ago) he wanted 100 and was giving people problems when they didnt want it inscribed directly to them.

Ugh I hate that. If you are paying a hefty fee, you are the customer and should get it how you like it. If it was $20 it doesn't matter that much... But who wants to drop $100 on an item that has ZERO market value should you ever wish to sell it?

One time Walter Koenig was nasty to me because I didn't want a personalization and it was a group item! What a jerk he was. Nichelle Nichols was sitting next to him at the long table and witnessed his behavior... So when I moved down the line to her, she kinda rolled her eyes a bit was was REALLY nice to me.

I asked for McDairmid to write "The Emperor" under his signature, and he didn't do it. $160 only gets you his name I guess. :/

I was hoping that he would be willing to inscribe "To Michael, I can feel your anger" so I expect to be disappointed.

Really interesting contrast to sports stars, who often only sign inscriptions for an additional fee.

The $100.00 sounds about right after recalling the '07 prices.  Julie newmar made an appearance at the '07 show with Burt Ward & Adam West.

She was charging $50.00 and if you wanted it, it was going with an inscription as well.

No inscription and she wouldn't sign.  She was absolutely elegant but adamant.  She would just stare at you and ask who shall I make this out to   and there was no getting around her.  THe line length was greater for West than Ward.   She was "fashionably late" to the table but it gave people enough time to go from West to Ward to Newmar.  Speaking of which here she is from that show.

of course, if you go to her website there are a number of them for $30.00 and several higher but the added $20.00 was to meet her not counting the extra $$ for taking a photo with her that many seem to add in.  I believe that was $10.00 more.

As bad as I want to go just for Ward West and Christopher Lloyd...not really sure what the prices are going for but as far as patients with the over crowding lines and zero tolerance for the thousands of collectors going to go I may not go myself...but will see...

As much as I love stuf like this, the crowds are simply overwhelming at the NYCC. Shoulder to shoulder at times and unable to move except with the flow of the crowd. There was stuff i wanted to see, but because where it was located, I simply gave up because it would take forever to get there or I didn't want to fight the crowd. So I ended up staying in the less populated aisles. LOL

The stupid thing is they have the NY Anime convention on the same day on the floor above the NYCC. So you have crowds inside, crowds outside. Insane. I remember leaving the con to get a breath of fresh air and a cold drink and all the hot dog carts were sold out. You had to walk like 3 blocks to find a deli to get a cold drink.

Lloyd when he attended the boston show had a line that was in the 4hr wait vicinity.  I was at the next one in line after a 1.5hr wait and he breaks for lunch & the "official photo shoot!  There is no way to save your place in line even with threats of mayhem... so you just sat and waited till his return (60 minutes later).  After that tt was off to the lounge... probably one of the worse wait shows in recent memory.  Even Patrick Stewart was less although I made the front of the line for that one as he was tucked away and people where every which way looking for him!

If it is as bad as Zipper says, I doubt I would even make an effort to attend that show unless it was as an MVP presuimg MVP works.

Lloyd was right across from Stewart last year at Wizard World Chicago.  Both attracted about the same amount of attention (maybe more for Lloyd, since his autograph was significantly less).  But while Stewart's line moved quite consistently, Lloyd's dragged and dragged.  At one point on Saturday, the line was fragmented across three different locations on the show floor.  I'm sure part of it has to do with how slowly (and nicely) he signs.  At one point, I think he was asked by his helper to stop adding inscriptions - but he gave me a "Doc" and "Great Scott!!" anyway :)
