I have recently opened a case in the eBay buyer protection about an autograph I have not yet received. It is for a tiny amount of money less than $10 including shipping but it is more a matter of principal. I wonder if anyone has had experience with eBay buyer protection? My hunch is the seller will say they sent it and I will say I have not received it and eBay will say tough luck. I have another case I might open again for a small amount of money. Any big ticket items I have bought recently (over $100) I have had no problems with getting. I wish eBay would allow a quick link to ALL negative feedback. It takes forever to plow through if someone has 5000+ feedback rating.

Yea it's a pain to go through feedback, I look at the 12 months negs and hope that gives it. I believe if the seller doesn't ship it through a method that gives a tracking # the odds are a bit more in your favor in a case.
Thanks Drew yes that is what I do too mainly is try to check the past year or so. I just have so little faith in eBay after a more costly (around $100) incident a few years ago when they removed a guy from eBay that I just bought a book from. Then the eBay representative said they could not give me the name or address of the seller (he shipped the book with the fake signature and used MY address as his return lol). The woman I spoke to at eBay was not very nice and I stopped eBay for years until just recently. They also need a feedback rating for themselves on handling disputes.
It might take awhile but im sure you will get your money, ebay always sides with the buyer, Ive had many friends sell things send them and then have people claim they never arrived and still lose the item and there money.
Non autograph related A friend sold an xbox360 on ebay (when they were new and hot) he shipped it insurred with tracking and signature confirmation the guy got it tracking said delivered and he signed for it yet said he never got it . - my friend ended up losing the xbox and the money even after proving it was sent to and recived by the buyer.
so no worries there ebay should have no problem getting you your money back
Thanks Steven Jackson. I actually sold a book on Amazon and I also provide delivery confirmation. On a rather expensive book sold to a lady in California she claimed not to have received it. The delivery confirmation proved it had been delivered but she still maintained she did not get it. To avoid a blot on my feedback I let it go so that is always a problem. I do however feel that if a seller has delivery confirmation and certainly if they have signature confirmation that eBay could not ignore that. I just had delivery confirmation that does not require a signature so was a bit out of luck. In my case here it was for a $3.99 autograph photo and as I suspected the seller had forgotten to send it. They did not respond to my second email so that is when I opened the case. A day later they said they had forgotten and were mailing it. So hopefully I will get it soon.
In m recent experience, having had similar issues eBay told the seller to provide tracking details. When they said it was not sent tracked eBay automatically refunded me and closed the cases.
Wow I did not know you can do that I will have to try. That would save so much time and effort especially if there is not much time left in an auction.

EBAY, nor PAYPAL side with the buyer. There are many timetables in play that both seller & buyer must meet and failing them can result in the claim being closed for a multitude of reasons. The initial expectation is that the buyer has attempted to resolve the issue with the seller. Of course, that runs head on into timetables.

As an update the seller contacted me and said they had forgotten to send the autograph and were now sending it. I thanked them and told them I appreciated it. So hopefully the autograph is in the mail to me now.
the problem being is that you would have a claim open and the clock is running. If the item, regardless of reason, doesn't arrive or is delayed for a myriad of reasons "the claim robots" adhere to their deadlines.
OPening one is a good approach when the seller hasn't responded within x days bearing in mind that opening a claim has a timetable and once opened you have upto 20 days to work out the issue. Tricky part of that is if you don't request EBAY via the resolution center to review the case WITHIN 20 days they can, and do, close it out. Once closed it can't be reopened, so they say.
had this happen with a celebrity who was on a shoot and the response/correction timetables was going to be greater than the 20 days. Regardless of how explained to the robots, there is just no dialogue with robots, just timetables.
