I'm a newbie, have question about My Paul McCartney autograph with Smiley face.

Hi All,
Just found this website and I'm hoping to get some help on my  autograph from Sir Paul. 
I used to work at JFK airport in the late 70's early 80's where I obtained a few celebrity autographs during that time but my most prized is the one Paul gave me in (I think, October) 1984. 
I hate to have to sell it, but I had to take early retirement and things are tight around here.
Someone offered my $800.00 a few years ago, but I didn't think that was a good price.
Here's a pic.   
I would appreciate any opinions or advice and thanks in advance.

Wow,  that was awesome!  Thanks. 
But after all of this my husbands begging me not to sell it.  I have no serious offers yet and it doesn't look like I will.  After reading all of the comments here my husband's given some things to think about.   
I'm not saying this to jack up the price or any other devious reason anyone can think of.
It's just I'm very anxious about letting it go in the first place, let alone taking a low price for it. 
I've been poking around the internet all morning and frankly I can't find  a single one like it with both his "All the best" and a good smiley face on the same page.
Maybe it's not so special and if there are any out there similar to mine I wish someone would show me.
I should have done more research and that's why I came here and you've all been great but until  I can feel comfortable selling it, and for a price that is acceptable, I'm gonna have to pull it.   I'm so sorry if I'm causing trouble here, but I know most of you will understand.

As I said before, I would not sell it. if you do, I believe you will regret it for the rest of your life.

While I don't collect Beatles stuff, there is no bigger fan than I am. I agree with Terrier. Unless you need the money to save your house or to help put your kid through college, I'd keep it too.

I'd just keep listing it Auction style (FREE)  on e-bay for what you want...$1,200.00. Get rid of the reserve price because NO ONE WILL BUY IT LIKE THAT and the ad costs you money. Will one of you tight screws step off and make the nice lady an offer of 1K?

Fuddjcal is right about reserve pricing.  I know i normally steer clear of auctions like that because i figure the seller doesn't really want to sell and is fishing for prices.

I agree about the reserve price when the auction listing starts at the price it or above what it should sell for.

If the listing of an item valued like this started at say $99 or something it doesn't turn me off to it as much.

I agree with Terrier that you would probably regret selling it. However, if you're sure that you do want to sell it, I would suggest a 'Buy It Now' listing with a best offer option, which currently costs only 5 cents per listing. Of course, set the price above what you would be willing to accept. Even If it doesn't sell, it should at least give you an idea of what it's worth to eBay buyers.

I agree with terrier8HOF unless you absolutely have to sell I would hold on to it.  I doubt very much it will go down in value over the next few years.  If you do decide to sell it do so and never look back.  Never keep checking to see what they are going for after you sell that only drives you nuts.

It also depends on what you are going to domwith the money- if it's to pay down a credit card with 20% interest, it may be a good use of the $$.

I would say this is better than just a signed piece of paper. Additional writing, a sketch.

$1000 is fair.

As I said in my post you are the owner and as such have the right to do exactly what you want with this fantastic item. I used this forum to help me with advice in buying some Beatles autographs and I don't see the difference with you asking for help in selling the one you have. I was overwhelmed with the kind comments from the guys here and owe them big time. As I said I was serious about buying and still am. Being from Scotland I would want a fair price for both of us!
