Ive never heard that before either Jason very Fascinating and thank you for the information about this matter. It kinda reminds me of Youtube new Copyright filters that they had put up with in the last couple of months.
Jason D stated the VeRO property rights situation better, so I deleted mine. Ha!
I agree with what he stated, rather than my first thoughts about it.
Here is a link to the eBay VeRO page. http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/questions/vero-ended-item.html
Keep in mind that there is mention or purses, watches, clothing etc but it pertains to signatures as well. Also keep in mind that eBay does not have every VeRO member listed on their site. Here is a list of VeRO members http://pages.ebay.com/help/community/vero-aboutme.html#sports
Now if you feel that there was a mistake in your listing being removed or that there was malleolus intent from the VeRO member there is a form you can fill out called the "Counter Notice" which is part of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. If you fill this form out and send back to eBay they will contact the member who will then have 10 days to respond after which if they do not respond eBay will reinstate your items.
I think what probably happened in the case with these sellers is even though the items may have been authentic it is possible that some were reported and removed and if it happened several times and the problem wasn't fixed by the sellers after they were warned then eBay just booted them. Or if they violated any of the other listing policies like not showing a coa, not showing clear photo of the item etc etc . The thing is eBay gives warnings prior to shutting an account down so there maybe more to the story. On another note I see the selling is now selling on amazon and is also listing his items with no TPA which I thought amazon did not allow. I thought an item had to be either JSA or PSA/DNA coa.
VeRO would only pertain to reproductions of their signatures (including forgeries), not ones they actually signed.
Steve, That is not the case. I've down this road twice before with PSA/DNA authenticated signatures that were obtained in person and VeRO'd by both the celebrity and the Athlete and had to fight to have them reinstated with both the agent and eBay. If you ever contact eBay about an item removed as a VeRO issue they will tell you that the rights owner owns the right to their name and if they do not want it sold for profit then they have every right to have it removed. I told eBay one time that they signed my item willingly and I had every right to sell it if I wanted to and they told me verbatim that if a VeRO member does not want the item sold there is nothing they can do and I would have to contact the member to get permission to sell the item.
If its the same ebay seller that used to sell on amazon 2 years ago with the name EZgraphs, he was offering some nasty Jimmy page forgeries. I submitted one to Roger at the time and he gave it the thumbs down. The amazon by that seller 2 years ago was also selling some others that were way off in my opinion. Maybe this wasnt that seller though. Or maybe he cleaned up. I dont know, but the seller EZ graphs on amazon, as of 2 years ago was offering some items that were pretty far off in my opinion. And i had a few checked out.
And i also agree that the Metallica and Aerosmith look good. So maybe we arent talking about the same guy or seller. I could have been mistaken on the ebay auctions from a while back. But i do remember the amazon Jimmy Page's from years ago.
Sounds like your right Kevin. Probably different sellers, b/c your items look all good to me
The rights issue is probably due to VeRO claims of unathorized reproduction of photos, not the autographs. Unless things have changed, very few in-person collectors buy properly licensed photos or buy reproduction rights.
VeRO claims are usually filed by the photographer or whoever owns the rights to the photo rather than the celebs themselves.
