What do you think about this Christy Mathewson autographed baseball?

It looks to me like it's authentic, but I cannot tell for sure.

Thanks.

People are belittling me too.

I'm talking about what Fudd said to you in this case, Dustin. But you haven't been much better.

Most of us are here to do what we can to prevent people from buying forgeries. Even when members completely disagree with you; even when you think they're seeing commies behind every bush; you'll do your collecting efforts a favor to consider what they're saying.

If they're right, they could save you a lot of pain...and cash.

You came here asking for opinions then end up sticking up for the two forensic examiners. It will continue this way. If you're such an expert why not just look at the stuff yourself and buy it? If you think this Mathewson is legit you have an awful lot to learn.

Getting picked on by Fudd is the VIP treatment. Some folks come here just for that love.

Like I told you before, it matches perfectly with the legitimate Christy Mathewson signatures.

Dustin, since you like it, buy it.

Buy it. You lucky dog.

BUY IT NOOOOOW!!!

Dustin,

You can't see the signature close enough to see the flow of the ink or if a pen was actually even used on the ball. It could be traced or it could have been printed on the ball.

One thing to look is the company the ball keeps. The site has listing after listing of signed memorabilia that would be extremely rare and expensive if genuine. Most of the ones you can see closely are as obiously fake as the 1927 Yankees ball.

Your explanation has been the most helpful one yet.

Thank you!

Some  questions please if someone doesn't mind answering them. How then does a modern day forger make the ink look old on a 1920s ball like the one  in our lively debate even if they are using an old fountain pen?

Is it easier to tell if you are actually   looking at the ball/bat etc rather than looking at photos?     Apologies  in advance if this a really easy answer

then buy the damn thing.  you deserve to get screwed, Dustin. You came on here, asking about authenticity and because we didn't tell you what you wanted to hear, you got defensive.  you started the downward direction of this direction by making a reference to us "being stupid" if we felt everything that Morales touches is fake.  Well, would you believe a person that has lied to you 99% of the time?  I doubt it.  Just buy it.  and send it to PSA or JSA. let us know how it comes out.

I agree with, Terrier.

If, in his mind, he wants to believe it is authentic, then buy it buy it by all means, Dustin.
