AJ asked me about this one earlier this week.  My opinion was "I have not studied the early (MJ) autographs that closely.... while it has a lot of characteristics I like, I'd push it to Roger for an opinion."  (I am not a professional authenticator)

Michael did sign his name fully in earlier years however -- and to me it looked like it could be an 80's autograph.  A lot of his older autos had loops in the c's that look like an e and that was one of the other things I noticed.

Below are some examples I have from around that time frame *late 70's early 80's*  (the last one is in only to show a large L loop in Michael--that is his marriage license, but a little older signature in style)

I have this one too that I ran across not too long ago, I found this one fascinating, a check from 1976 with the star-burst in Michael instead of the Jackson part.

I haven't study his early autographs.for that i am sorry.Hope A.J Has the real thing. As you guys showed by Wascher knows better. Thanks for helping out a fellow auto collector.

Oh its fine roberto :)  I love looking through the exemplar files I've compiled and comparing them to an auto I've not seen before.  I find it fascinating.

Hi Wascher, after studying the lightened version of the OP's autograph, I think it's authentic. I own the 1st sample document in your post. :) I picked it up in Julian's last auction. In my opinion it was the only contract that wasn't a copy or a fax in the lot. I received it from ArtPack shippers last week. But I was dismayed to see that Toriano (Tito)'s name was misspelled "Tariano" on the contract. As a Jackson 5 fanatic, I don't know how I missed that. Then I remembered reading somewhere that Tito's name is spelled "Tariano" on his birth certificate. I hope I'm right. If this is Joseph Jackson's company, he should know how his son's name is spelled.

Reminded me of a personal funny... when one of my sons was born (Taylor), my husband had gone out with his buddies to celebrate his first born son.  When asked his new sons name by one of his friends, he said... "I dunno, Tyrone or some sh--"  :)

Taj (his son) is listed online everywhere as Tariano Adaryll Jackson II.  Since Taj is listed Tariano (the second), I'd assume Tariano is correct legally.  Heck, look how often MJ's full name has been misspelled over the years, his own death certificate doesn't even have it right.

AJ's auto is "likely genuine", which I did expect :)  He bought it after a quick opinion gave him the thumbs up and I was happy for him.  Then he became a little leery when someone told him to get a refund.  I told him I still thought it was good.  So he got a 2nd and 3rd opinion (one of them being Roger) and all agreed, it was good.

That story about your husband was funny. :) I Googled MJ's death certificate. How is his name misspelled?

The original first one - with the deferred pending tox panel, was Michael Joseph Jackson.  His name is Michael Joe Jackson.  I am unsure if they corrected the 2nd and final copy.
