Question: in description / information (on ebay) was word that this 'original'? or not?
For me it's looks like autopen signature or most probably facsimile signature
(BUT I should say that I'm not professional)...
it was sold as being authentic. its been approved as authentic by Epperson and PSA but thats of course just viewing the image off ebay. ive looked up ways to see if an item is hand signed (Hold up to light, rub finger over, looked thru maginifying glass, etc and im stumped. thats why i need opinions on the pic. maybe someone will see something different or inconsistent. but just looking at it in person, it looks off.

I personally have no clue re what Marley's sig should look like but I have had a very similar experience re very expensive item purchased off ebay & some of your worries sound similar; - none which could be seen from the scan
If there is no indentation or impression from any of the letters and there is no pressure from the pen that is not a good omen. Do the letters float or lie flat and dead on the page if you see what I mean?
thats one of my worries, no indention or impression from what i can see, at all! i understand some can sign lighter and softer but im not seeing any indention!
even when i looked at the pics i took, they didnt look as bad as seeing it in person, which is why im hoping someone here can notice any negative characteristics.
they appear to lie flat and dead but i got a friend to check it out and he really thinks its real and claims he felt the ink or texture when he ran his finger across it. i felt nothing. On just really on the fence bout it and need some advice. If i send it in to get authenticated it and they say its a copy, there goes that money!
As Gregory says it is impossible to tell without seeing but....... if your gut instincts tells you something is wrong it probably is. Is the ink the right kind of ink for the time that Marley is supposed to have signed it? Does the ink come off the sig really easily if you see what I mean? Now that is also not a good omen. Is the 'paper' it is written on is not the correct kind of paper/card for the time Marley was supposed to have written it? Is the signature sort of shiny and looks as if it has had botox if you know what I mean?
yea thats what i figured sadly, the pics just dont do it justice and appear to be authentic. i dont know much about ink or paper which is what i was wondering if anyone has seen a "presentation card" like this signed back in 1979. it just appears very flat and no indention. my friend claims he can feel the ink off the paper when he rubbed it but i couldnt feel anything. its just a really tough call. thank you for the info
this presentation card looks pristine for something that is supposed to be that old and the placement looks wonderful; - this doesn't mean it isn't genuine but YET 2 more factors to ponder about..... is there any flow to it? (the signature I mean).....
thats one of the first things i noticed also. Its just so perfect looking which scares me. it appears to flow well in my opinion but thats only because the signature i believe is a real signature by Marley. if that even makes sense haha im honestly stumped on its authenticity and not sure what to do next. i contacted Heritage auction with my issue and pics so maybe they can help out. im hoping i can make a trip there and get them to check it out in person. they do appraisals quite often but i just missed it so hopefully i can just bring it to them.
The problem is that without being able to see it in person it is impossible to tell. Is the paper showing any indentations or marks beneath the writing? In one of the corners of the card - not that I want you to damage the card but if you dot a little bit of biro like it is signed, does it appear the same as the signature or different? Hope that makes sense.
yup i agree, its hard to show everyone what im seeing in person which is impossible to do. The close-up pics are the best i can come up with. im not seeing any indentions which was what made me question it in the first place. just by the pics it looks authentic i will even admit but in person its tough. I live in Dallas fort worth area so Heritage auction is not far so i contacted them to see if i can get a speicialist to check it out. because im on the fence i just cant get my self to send it off and get authenticated when theres a good chance its a copy. Thanks for the info Dan, appreciate it!
