Autographs being reinked and restored

Some time ago I seen a beatles set that had been restored By a professional,they touched up the boys signatures around about 15 percent of the signatures were reworked.

Does anyone have any idea if this is a good idea to have signatures restored and would anyone have any pictures of reworked autographs.

Does it effect the value of the sets or signatures?

Where is the photo of your album?

I guess all other signed albums in that lot where also authenticated by scan - possible they were altered aswell but I dont think so. The Lennon has the proof pic where the red pen is visible...

I know this one -it was sold by Caiazzo for the price of a car. Nice mid 70ies signatures.

Yes it was sold by caiazzo and i own it. See i have been collecting almost 2 years seriously but this is all a revelation to me.

I was wondering if that Ringo was the one that was being discussed previously. I actually thought about purchasing it. I even went as far to contacting UCLA about the event UCLA Friends of the Handicapped, which I spoke to the longest remaining employee that is still apart of the department via email, they could not find any record of this event in 1984. However gave me a brief history on how the handicapped were treated unfairly on their campus around that time.

They weren't sure if there had been a private fundraiser, but without being able to follow the provenance (as well as being a tad overpriced) I decided to go other routes. Also there was another COA on a previous auction by Caiazzo for this besides just PSA/DNA which for some reason is not listed on this auction. When I asked this seller if the COA was still in their possession they said they think they still have it.

Not sure if this helps with the Ringo at all. Just though I'd give a little research on it.

If you collect items at risk for this type of manipulation, I advise investing is a quality UV light. If there is in-painting, grafting, etc... it will show up under black light.

Under UV light, newly added paper, glue and paint will glow differently than original paper and ink.

Does anyone know who the people that are doing these restore jobs are? I can't imagine it's a common thing im sure there are only a few really top restorers doing all these.
