I just bought this off of ebay about two weeks ago. I have been studying Beatles autographs for over 20 years and figured they were just about the best ones I've ever seen on a fan club card so I just got the seller to end early and sell to me. Now that I have it, it is pristine. That scares me. The ink is aged and autographs are perfect, perhaps too perfect? Back story is they were signed for a still photographer from ABC tv in NYC during Feb 64 trip. They seem to date to that period, Roger signed off on them, but I can't get Perry or Tracks to return emails regarding COAs for it. I was going to send it in to PSA/DNA but I was wondering what everyone thought on here. The back has 4 black paper marks where it was taken out of a scrapbook. Otherwise, mint condition.
If THIS one is authentic - then it must be one of greatest Beatles signed item in the world.... It looks way too good to believe it!
What did the guy charge you for this? You might want to try "Tracks" as Perry Cox and Frank Caiazzo mostly only cert there own stuff they are selling. Tracks is better than PSA in my opinion for Beatles stuff.
Peter, that is my thought. Its either the greatest forgery ever, or the best signed fan club card ever. I see no signs of monkey business on the card. Every trail-off looks good and correct to Feb. 64. The ink looks aged too. Roger gave me a quick opinion before I bought it but offered to write me a COA on it. I will probably send it out to him if I can't get a reply from Tracks. It was expensive but still a good deal in comparison to others I see on Tracks' website.
Just FYI - Tracks prices on their website are 20-30% higher than what Beatles items typically sell for at auction. When they list their autographs on eBay, they almost always have a very high reserve and usually don't sell.
the signature styles are legit for the time period. but without having it in hand, can't offer any more on it.
Ryan,
This set worries me, but I don't know Beatles anywhere near as well as Roger or other members here. The shapes look good overall, except the "ul" of Paul seems a bit too uniform. What mainly concerns me is that the weight of the writing is quite uniform, and similar from autograph to autograph, and the ends of lines abruptly lift--they don't trail and become lighter like natural writing tends to do.
I'm concerned that it might be machine signed. I could be dead wrong, but I think you're right to be concerned.
