UPDATEDSCAN.JPG

Sorry for the picture quality! My scanner is down at the moment.

Pulled this at a storage auction. Authentication was done by rare and signed which I've determined, through research, to be useless so... help?

The postcard is a CUSTOMS 4c. US postage 1789-1964 (assuming '64 is date signed)

As you've found out rare and signed is bogus. That's who authenticates a lot of stuff at Coaches Corner. However, that doesn't mean that they've never authenticated something that wasn't good. I can't say for sure on this one. It's closer than the Ruth, Cobb, Foxx you have. If this is a forgery, it's a decent attempt. Better trained eyes than mine would have to say for sure.

Thanks much for the input. I'll hold off on sending it in anywhere until I get some more feedback but thats a decent start. From what I have seen so far, there are definitely ones that look far worse than this.

Ya I mean, this isn't just outright ridiculous. I mean you can go on eBay and find just some stupid forgeries, but if this is, I think there are a lot of people that could be duped with this one - IF it's not authentic. The transition from the M in McCartney to the c is kind of abrupt. And the transition from the t to the n is a little different than I'm familiar with, but this could maybe be real. Here is a real McCartney that I have that is JSA.

Those were two of my main concerns also. Maybe I'm catching on? haha.

Also, the n on the end of Harrison seems a bit less flashy than the JSA PSA/DNA's I've seen but there were a few similar ones as well.

These arent printed are they? Can you tell that they are in pen? Do you see nice pressure underneath where the ball of the pen pressed on the paper?
The lennon doesn't look right either.
Also the N or N's dont have that forward slant at the tips that id like to see.

Ive been using this as a reference example. certified from the same year / non Aspinall

Not authentic IMO

these are forgeries and really not very good ones

Can I get some elaboration on the indicators? I'm attempting to develop an eye for this.

Im not going to do a detailed analysis, but to start with these are not fluid signatures, they are slowly executed.
