Ah yeah this is the hang out spot if you wanna learn about autographs.

Here is the early Mantle I said I would post...

very nice early Mantle signature

Notice how it is much different then his common sig but still carries a lot of similarity. ( tle in Mantle )  Favorite in my collection

I honestly think the 1st DiMaggio is authentic; may not be the best example, but I think it is authentic nonetheless.  The formation of M, a, and g's all show positive characteristics in my opinion.  You could put them up on eBay for a ridiculous buy now price, pay for a PSA quick opinion, and take the listing down once you receive the opinion.  It is the cheaper and faster option, and I did that for my DiMaggio ball.

That being said, I wouldn't want the second ball in my collection more so than the first.

I would run them through Quick Opinion if they were mine. The first one just does not look right with those huge elementary cursive vertical GG's. Here are some PSA or JSA examples I found that have fairly large "gg's", but still not as weird as the one you posted. These also show more signs of "swiftness" IMO

I hope for your sake they are authentic, but I would certainly pass on both if I was looking for a Joe D ball.

Just listed on ebay and sent for a quick opinion, I will update with what they say!

Thanks again guys

I've been reading this thread since the OP posted it and reading the comments.

to me the D has no slant.. the other Joe D sigs I`ve been seeing the D slants to the right.. this example posted in the OP looks off to me.

Well I just got the PSA QUick Opinion back and both where deemed " likely Genuine" if I can figure out how to post the screen shot from my phone I will of the email but if not I'll upload them when I get home

Thanks guys

I am surprised to be honest.  I just found the ink Dimaggio on ebay, blew it up and it looks awful.  It actually looks like the D was started with the upper loop, then a ccw motion down, where it loops and finishes with the vertical line upward.  I say this because you can see which line overlaps, and this is just the opposite of how Joe D made his capital D.  also, under magnification it looks really slowly written.  again, I am surprised.
