Another Brick in the Wall..........The idiots at PSA have done it again!

I recently sent a Roger Waters and Nick Mason signed Pink Floyd "The Wall" album in for authentication.  I added the comment to please put the authentication sticker on the back.  I also added a post it note to remind them.  Of course, it comes back yesterday with the authentication sticker not only on the front, but they turned the album sideways and put the sticker vertical.  Morons!  I called right away and was told that the person who put the sticker on chooses which way they think the album looks best depending on the the angle of the signatures.  What!  Both signatures are signed at an angle, but look good either way.  Problem is that the album looks stupid when displayed sideways with the bricks going up and down instead of across.

They claim they didn't see where I wrote the directions, and the post it note must have fallen off, of course it did!  Here is their solution.  Send it back with the shipping expense being on me both ways and they will remove the sticker, but it will leave a residue mark and may take off part of the album cover.

How can they be such idiots when it comes to something like this!  I told the girl on the phone, if there was any question at all, they should have given me a call.  Then I asked her, what if I had sent in an Eagles Hotel California album and the two signatures on there were at a sideways angle, would they turn the album sideways and put on the sticker?  The genius tells me, yes, they would.  It doesn't matter what the face of the album looks like, it matters how the signatures look, she says.

I cannot believe I even had that conversation with this person.  I felt like I was explaining physics to the elementary school kids I teach!

Haha I had a similar situation.  I wrote "sticker on bottom right corner" on the box I sent the item in, added a note, and indicated on the form in several spots and they still put the sticker on the bottom left.  The customer service people are geniuses too. I asked them shipping costs to return about 3 times (two emails and a phone call) and received the same answer. Then, about 2 weeks later, I receive my package back due to "insufficient funds" as the shipping was $7.50 more than I provided.  Num-skulls.

What MORONS!!!  The sticker should go on the back, anyways................

I guess my only option is to mat it out.  I was hoping to display it without covering up a portion of the cover.

Damn Steve...that's sick and so insane...I just got so mad reading this

You might be able to remove it using Un-Du Adhesive Remover. I use it to remove tape from posters, but I'm not sure how well it would work in this situation.

If I were able to remove the sticker, I wouldn't have the authentication sticker to replace it.  I wouldn't mind sending back to PSA, but they want me to pay shipping both ways.  Ridiculous, considering what they charged me to begin with.

I understand, but they mentioned the possibility of removing part of the album cover. If that's the case, I would rather remove the sticker myself prior to sending it back.

Steve,

Don't let them get away with it. File a damage claim for the replacement cost of the signed album and call Joe Orlando to talk about it. For your sake and the sake of all PSA customers, don't let them get away with it. You gave them clear instructions and you have a damaged album because they didn't follow them.

Do you have a copy of your submission form? I assume you filled it out online and that they send you a copy when you do, but I've never filled one out.

On the subject of authentication stickers:

I hate them anywhere visible where you're enjoying the autograph. On the back of a photo, fine. On the back (or on the opposite side the autograph is? Still don't want it. I'd open the album and put it inside.

And these authentication services HAVE to start imaging every autograph they certify, and put them online. It makes no sense that they only do it for LOAs. They're charging, what, $20 plus? They can afford it.

You should see the LOA.  It looks so stupid with the bricks going the wrong direction.  The problem with filing a damage claim is that I am out the album and it would most certainly cost me much more to replace it than I paid.  I will call Joe Orlando tomorrow and discuss this with him.

Steve,

Replacement value is what matters, not your cost.

I like PSA, but they deserve to eat this. And post a scan of LOA, please.

Here is a scan of the LOA and also the album the way they think it should be and they way I want to look at it.

I never understood why the sticker had to be visible.  its an advertising ploy, not only do they get your money for the opinion, but the put the sticker in a highly visible place on the item so they get free advertisement with it.

the purpose of the sticker it to "prove" that the item has been deemed authentic. the placement of the sticker (if they have to use one) should be minimally invasive, on the back of a photo or album, for example.  there is no reason NOT to place it there.  baseballs are a different story, there is no good place to put the sticker so there has to be another way, such as the online system steve suggests.
