In my opinion, yes! This is a Michael Jackson PSA/DNA authenticated Thriller album. If you look at the date on the LOA, this was authenticated less than two months after MJ died. Considering some of the other MJ PSA screw-ups I have seen around this time, it appears as though PSA's exemplar file for Michael Jackson must have been severely lacking around this time.

In my opinion this is pathetic. This actually sold for only $1000 recently. I have seen two recent MJ PSA 8x10s sell for $1200 and $1500 respectively. Signed MJ Thriller albums sell for $2500+. Within the last year I saw a PSA "BAD" album sell for $3700 on eBay. But it's hard to believe anyone even paid $1000 for this forgery!

What do you think about this piece?

Here's a link to the auction.

I have. It's possible to get PSA to change their opinion and remove an item from their certification database.

Very interesting! I never thought they would admit fallibility with a full cert item.

we can hope that they would remove their decision on the jacko.

I should say that I'm aware of it having happened a total of one time. LOL. I'm not sure what would happen in Adam's scenario, but otherwise I think it would be tough. You'd have to provide solid proof that the signature isn't authentic.

I am not completely sure either, just speculation...Which isn't beneficial I know. I just imagine that most auction houses would put a lot of weight behind the PSA cert. Like you said Ballroom, you would have to argue why that item should be pulled and have another authenticator back it up with their opinion.

It's tough because someone would have to admit they were wrong at PSA. Not sure of the whole process but hopefully they would do the right thing.

Hi James, I'm a collector like you and it is very upsetting to hear that these leading companies in the business have made several mistakes to say the least.  I don't know Michael Jackson's signature but wanted to reply to you because I know it is upsetting and even heartbreaking to see this crap.  Cheers Nicholas

Yes, when they make mistakes as bad as this one, it really is discouraging since they are supposed to be the "experts". I am confident that they get more right than wrong, but their opinion should never be blindly accepted as a statement of fact.
