Might pay to do some research before you discredit this as it was written right handed. He did not sign with left hand - Jimmy hendrix signed with his right hand.
May I ask which dealer you bought from, if this is real? I have had opinions from all angles on my autograph - some saying fake, some say genuine. And I appreciate your feedback too. In 2002, my dealers were very reputable. The autograph passed auction houses plus dealer in USA and then my dealer in Australia. I have not written off my autograph yet. If it is fake, it would have been done done about 40 or so years ago. The paper is old and ink has faded considerably. I had to enhance to make image clearer.
Sean,
Autograph authenticity knowledge was significantly less reliable in 2002 than it is today, especially in music. Some of the best dealers unknowingly sold a lot of fake autographs back then. Sports, music and entertainment authentication started improving largely in pace with the growth of legitimate third party authenticators. They've never been perfect and never will be, but they are significantly better than most dealers on their own.
My dealer was very reputable & world renown. Do your searches on him?
John Massetti's passion for autograph-hunting began on the sporting fields of his native New Zealand. "I was one of those kids who'd run out with my autograph book at the end of play," he says. He found he had the knack and was soon being asked by his friends at school to get them autographs of their favourite personalities.
Barter became an important part of the process - "I'll swap you two Dennis Lillees for an Edmund Hillary".
His skill at obtaining autographs (it used to be as simple as writing to them politely, he adds) has led to him becoming a recognised dealer as well as a prolific collector. His business, Wall of Fame, buys and sells celebrity autographs, predominantly signed photos. He is also asked to verify signatures, especially those of the Beatles.
He specialises in tracking down autographs, mainly achieved through his membership of the prestigious Universal Autograph Collectors Clubs of Washington, DC. His reputation as an autograph detective has led to several commissions, including the compilation of the signatures of all Australian Prime Ministers and of all the Formula One world champions.
May I ask if you also purchased a Jim Morrison autograph from this seller? I see in his email that he mentioned that a Morrison signature would also be a good choice.
Sean, it wasn't right for you to delete the image of your Hendrix autograph from this discussion, just because you didn't like that everyone who gave an opinion thought it was a forgery. Why did you post it if the only opinions you would accept were ones that called it genuine? It's an amateur forgery and nothing is going to change that.
wow, this forum is actually quite nasty. I bought from reputable dealers and paid $2000. This is a little hobbyist forum so there is no solid proof yet. These forums are known to be wrong. The autograph is been sent away to professionals and I will wait to hear back. Is it ok if you remove my autograph images until i know for sure. I will keep everyone updated. Thanks for all of your opinions.
Hi Sean, I don't believe anyone has been "nasty".... most are just chatting and giving opinions. However to say this is a "little hobbyist forum" - is incorrect. There are many professionals on these boards as well. If you want a professional opinion on the signature I would suggest Roger Epperson. He is a professional - but does this for a living. You can search for his page on the upper right hand by typing in his name and ask him on his wall or go to his website http://signedsealeddel.com/
