He wasn’t selling it, that’s the thing, this was just all his personal collection. We were sharing our love for the hobby of collecting and these were some of his wall pieces that he had in his home.
Yeah, I don’t know how to tell him about the other ones. I feel terrible for him.
I think you've told parts of the story in two different threads so I might be confusing things, but from what I gather you know the seller from online conversations only? I assumed that was the scenario since the item he sold you was shipped rather than transferred in person.
I'm struggling to comprehend how someone who was $4500 into a piece refunded the purchase price and didn't even want the item back based on the assessment of a stranger on the internet that it was fake.
If I had an item that I sold and the buyer told me it was fake I'd want it back at the very least. I'd want professional opinions and second opinions.
Maybe I'm just being too cynical but the whole story (his, not yours) sounds fishy.
Is all this stuff from the guy who had a friend who was in the entertainment business?
If so, then it's, just another example of how an elaborate backstory is often/usually meaningless.
Your seller might have been a victim, as well, of course.
Yeah, he is the victim here. It’s so unfortunate as he’s such a cool dude. I don’t know how to break the news to him. He was super upset when I told him about the zeppelin album, mostly because he was lied to in such a manner. He immediately refunded my money no questions asked, I didn’t even have to ask. And then he told me to keep it. He was so excited to share all the cool things in the collection he’s been building over the years. The whole situation sucks, where can you even buy legitimate stuff anymore?
+1.
It is possible.
Thanks Eric
Most welcome. It is very unfortunate - the whole situation. :-(
+1 JK, same thing I said, 4K on the item, $500 on the framing and $150 shipping and he doesn't want it back? I can't believe that, and have said so twice before now. re this seller in whatever threads are happening. It just is a modus operandi we have seen time and time again.
I’m inclined to agree with you 99%…in this instance I honestly think that he was just upset, mad, embarrassed, etc…didn’t want to bother paying even more money to ship it back. I sent him these threads to see as well as forwarded the email from Roger Epperson, idk.
