+1 Shaky and odd.
That did come across to me to, I’m wondering if it would be a real signature where was it signed, or is this the hand of a faker who failed to replicate because they where viewing a copy of her signature while trying to replicate?
Thanks Joe W I was not sure in comparison to versions of her signature I’ve viewed, although there are variations of her real signature...I do see something that bothers me with this one. Anything in particular that stands out to you?
It does not look like Audrey's natural signature. Appears slowly written to me.
I agree with you
I had the good fortune to sit and chat with with her at a table for two in 1990 or 1991 with wine for about 1/2 an hour and I saw her sign beforehand, and very neatly with her "style" intact although she was ill. She was seated in a corner and being bombarded with requests so I went and got a glass of red and a glass of white and just put a chair between her and the folks wanting sigs and sat down. She was thankful. We spoke of everything BUT movies. Yes, I kissed her gloved hand. :)
Beautiful account of your experience the fair lady indeed. I had not had the fortune to meet in person. I do have an authentic collection of her items that dates back to 1949. I saw this signature, it bothered me to the point, where I posted it to gather opinions as I have must respect for Audrey. I was wondering if you may be able to give a little more insight, in your personal opinion of how this signature could have been made, would love to hear from you, and many thanks for sharing your story of Audrey.
Sorry Keith, it appears your response is not here, hope it turns up.
I'll try again...
Hello, thanks. It was at the cast party for the Unicef production of Diary of Anne Frank with Michael Tilson Thomas that I met her.
The first letter alone shows much hesitation and slowness. She had a sort of reticulated signature. Very stylish and singular/unique. It doesn't show here. The "Hepburn" is a mess.
She was very gracious and kind and a bit chatty as you might expect. I made sure not to mention any films and thus we had a great quiet chat about the night visible through the windows. Her wrists were like pencils. It was a closed party on the top floor of a hotel I can't recall - free champagne. Afterwards, she danced like the devil with 20 year old kids and was ahead of them. It is among my finest memories of its kind.
Thanks Keith, your response came through. And many thanks again. I already have an item in my collection from 1954 that is signed by her, it is the authentic signature. I was in the market for another, I came across this one, thought it was different, the owner of it claimed it was signed by her in France. I haven’t purchased because I had doubts. I decided to run it by the very kind experts here, to obtain opinion. I am thankful to you, and all so far that have responded.
