Authenticity of Rolling Stones Bridges to Babylon lithograph

Hi there,

I was wondering if anyone could help me out. I've been looking at picking up a hand signed Rolling Stones Bridges to Babylon lithograph and found one for sale, however, it doesn't appear to be numbered. The others I've seen have a pencil number of the 125 issued in the lower left corner. The seller has checked and there's definitely no number. He thinks it could be an artists proof, extra copies signed in case numbered copies are damaged. Does this sound feasible? I've tried googling this but can't find anything.

Thanks!

Karl

Can anyone help out? It's a lot of dosh to drop!

The unnumbered part would bother me too. If you're gonna spend this kinda dough, drop $15 on a Roger Epperson quick opinion. Explain the fact that it's unnumbered to him too and see what he says.

The number should be right under the lower left corner of the image. I'm not certain of it, but there appears to be a number there.

Thanks, I checked with Roger as he had one for sale a while back, he said if it's not numbered it's fake. I put this to the seller, even describing where the number should be (just about Keith's auto) and he said it wasn't numbered so must be an artist's proof. I've also seen a few others online that don't appear to have numbers but it's hard to tell with low res images as the number is very faint pencil. I'm reluctant to drop $3k if I'm not sure.

I zoomed in with my iPod and see what appears to be a number, a slash, and a number directly under the image. I would ask the seller to take another close look at it. He may have missed it because, like you said, it's so light.

If you're looking to spend that kinda dough, maybe the signatures directly on their website would be a better investment for the peace of mind that goes with it? JUst a thought.

Thanks BallroomDays67, you must have better eyesight than me as I can't see it! I'll ask him to double-check, problem is, if it's a fake it's a pretty easy thing to add

I took a look at the other auction pic, and it indeed is unnumbered. In the smaller pic, it looks like there's something there.

I actually own # 43/125 .and I also own one with no numbers.they are both real.the one with no numbers I had psa/ DNA authenticate it.it passed with flying colors.mine looks just like the one pictured.I cannot authenticate mr sloanes story about the" extras incase" but I can tell you it is 100% real just by looking at it.there are definitely a few out there that are not numbered thru 125.I personally own one.I can send you pictures of both of mine, one with and one without numbers.they look close.the story behind my unnumbered one is such.the tour in 98 in Chicago the person I bought it from told me that he had VIP passes at one of the shows, there was a lottery that was held backstage before the show started.the winner ( out of 500 people or so would get a lthogragh

Paul hakimian,

You wouldnt happen to be Mr. Sloane on ebay would you??  Im just curious b/c you joined this site today to speak on this. And that you knew Mr. Sloane was selling it. And to my knowledge it wasnt revealed anywhere who was selling this item or where it was being sold. Are you Mr. Sloane?

Signed in person by the entire band and it was also framed right there also.he also had pictures showing the whole deal.let me know if you would like tho speak with me about this.Roger epperson is dead wrong on this one ...that's a fact.remember it was authenticated by psa/DNA.that proves he's dead wrong.

and here we go again. Another 1 post person telling us a professional is wrong lol
