Has anyone heard if Barnes & Noble will be doing their annual Black Friday instore Signed Edition promotion? If so, any ideas of what books could potentially show up?

Did you see my reply? Yep it is. It’s a 4x6 insert inside. A manager opened one up for my buddy and I because we wanted to know as well.

If you can't find LL Cool J's new book at Barnes & Noble, there are signed copies available at indie bookstore called Mahogany Books:

A friend of mine is at B&N now.  She has two copies each of Arnold and Patrick and snagged a young girl who was hanging out to go through the line with her.

They had Sly but not signed and no sign of Natalie.

We'll go back tomorrow to see what is left.  As I recall last year I scored my two Bonos on the Saturday.

How many copies are left of Arnold and Stewart? I might try to go to mine if it seems hopeful they still have them.

Not sure. I do know that some with "signed" stickers were missing the autograph.

Now I'm wondering if some people are swapping dustjackets and hiding the signed books among the regular stacks/shelves to be retrieved later.

Autograph collectors can be a slippery bunch.  :)

Definitely possible. There is a worse situation I heard of someone doing which was someone clipping the signed pages out of the books and stealing the signed pages leaving the “signed” books unsigned for unsuspecting buyers. I heard this happened in Florida with Portman’s books.

SO ALWAYS CHECK to make sure the book you pick up to buy is signed.

That is crazy. The Arnold books I saw had the blank page for the signature but just weren’t signed, so I don’t think it was anything nefarious

That probably was an error on the publisher’s part. They inserted unsigned pages by accident or Arnold missed a few pages stuck together when he was signing the pile and these inadvertently made their way into some books.

I think my store had around 15 copies and i’d say 5 or 6 were unsigned with the Signed sticker. I actually grabbed one of the unsigned ones but luckily they had a few more in the back for a minor restock. I’ve heard about issues with the Kimmel book as well. Hope it’s not more widespread

"They had a few more in the back for a minor restock"

I thought/hoped that might be happening!  So, there could be fresh inventory throughout the day at some stores.

It was a pretty immediate restock. I had missed Sly and by the time I went back to grab a different Arnold book (they had restocked) there were a few more Sly books. I don’t think they’re restocking throughout the day, just as soon as they notice things are sold out on the floor.

I literally missed the Patrick Stewart book by 5 minutes. I saw the person who got it before me waiting in line to buy it. The Arnold’s were all sold out by the time I arrived.

I did get a Sly Stone signed book.

This is what they had when I arrived.
