Some users have uncovered potential autopen use within Bob Dylan's expensive art prints. Please check your prints if you own one and post a picture on this thread if you have any concerns.

*UPDATE - Let this be a warning to ALL publishers and celebrities in the future. We are sick and tired of these autopen releases. Our community has had enough and absolutely will not stand for this practice to continue any longer!!!
I want to point out that Coles Books needs to be commended. They made sure to look out for their customers and refused to ship these out if they came from the same S&S stock, which they did. It was also an easy process to cancel orders beforehand if you wished. Coles. on behalf of everyone, I want to thank you for having integrity and watching out for all of us.
I can NOT say the same about Premiere Collectibles. They refused to honor cancelation requests until it was known these books were in fact autopenned. They advertise themselves claiming they are collectors themselves. This is not true. They are a retailer first and only care about your money. There have been other autopen incidents where they absolutely refused to accept blame, stating items were real when they were clearly deemed autopen by the community. Be careful with future purchases with Premiere Collectibles.

I am creating this thread as a comprehensive all in 1 link for returns, refunds, chargebacks and claims made regarding the "signed" edition of Bob Dylan - The Philosophy Of Modern Song. Please use this link to email Simon & Schuster, Coles, and Premiere Collectables as 100% proof these were signed using an autopen machine.
I would like to say right off the bat, Coles Books in the UK is handling this professionally and seem to care deeply about their customer base. They have stated that, once they are in hand, If they find evidence of them being autopenned, they will cancel all orders.. Kudos to Coles.. I wish all retailers would follow their lead. If you wish to cancel your order with them immediately instead of waiting, It seems to be an easy process.

So far, there have been a total of 17 confirmed different templates for the autopen machine used for Bob Dylans signature. I am in the process of creating video comparisons for all 17 sets. Please post full page photos of your item as they are delivered to aid in this process
Here are all 17 templates used by Bob Dylan - I am still looking for full page photos for numbers 8,13 and 15 thru 17 but its still best to post whatever you receive
Be aware when checking against your own copy, it has come to light that they are possibly using 1st and last names interchangeably. Bob in #2 matches perfectly with Bob in #13 while Dylan in both are different

Dolly Parton is also guilty of using multiple autopens in the same fashion with multiple templates over the years but with a slight twist where they manipulate the page as the autopen machine writes her signature. If we are looking to stop all future attempts at autopen usage, she needs to be held accountable just as much as Bob Dylan and S&S. Link to threads below

Ok here's my question and I assume this is a question for a lawyer but: Bob Dylan has publicly confessed to large scale fraud. This is a crime. How do we get the DA or whomever to prosecute him for this? Not a lawsuit to recover damages but a criminal prosecution. I know he refunded everyone, but that doesn't eliminate the crime. It's like if I rob a bank and then I think they're getting close to catching me so I offer to return the money. Why is this different?

They've had more than enough time to sort this out - If I'd paide £2500.00 - £25000.00 for a fake print I'd report them to the Police anyway! I'm sure they will get their arses into gear then !!! I'm assuming they have the money readily available for refunds.

There is something called prosecutorial discretion. If there isn't a substantial harm that occurred (and with the refunds there isn't one legally speaking) - then they aren't going after a beloved 80+ year-old musician who is claiming medical problems. It wouldn't be a slam dunk case and would make prosecutors look like bullies who are going after an old man instead of "real criminals" like drug dealers and rapists.
I find it distasteful, but most protectors wouldn't go near this even if there is a violation of law that has occurred.

It would be different in the UK if anybody took it to court that is.
Age should be irrelevant otherwise the Hatton Bank robbers who stole £14 million in 2014 would have still been walking around instead of behind bars, they were 59, 60, 61, 67 and the ringleader was 75!

Yes I know, they've made a couple of films about it, they are not great but worth a watch ! Hatton Garden Job and one from 2018 called The King of Thieves with Michael Caine.
I think Bob's watched both a few times!

Steven, I think I have the reason why Dylan WOULD NOT be charged with a crime; because, other people use autopen, so he could use that defense. It's one thing if he was, say...Tom Brady, and it was signed helmets. And for years his company was selling them as signed helmets and he knew they were autopen, and knowing sports collectibles are a big investment that people pay handsomely for. And as someone in his camp stated -- others use autopens. So Dylan could play dumb (although they always say "ignorance of the law is no excuse").
The other reason, as you stated, is a refund is being given.
Now, you could say "why aren't the book stores/outlets that advertised these as 'hand signed' not being charged?" That's a better question but again, autopens are still creating this confusion in the market. Authorities wouldn't feel they have a clear cut case of fraud. They wouldn't think they'd have a case they could win, when so many people have already used autopen, and with no problems.
But I will say this -- with this story being as big as it is (thanks to you fine folks on this website) -- ANY other publisher or bookstore that does this in the future, SHOULD have some serious crap thrown their way. Because they have to realize that, it's just a matter of time before we all compare notes (and photos), and realize 3 different autopens were used, and the nightmare starts all over for them (albiet on a much smaller scale)

My daughter is a law student so this qualifies me as an armchair lawyer.
Criminal intent is likely to be the deciding factor. Did he intend to defraud people? Yes he did and he has fessed up.
I would have thought that any D.A. with, e.g, political ambitions (or just a huge ego) would love to make a name for him/herself (I also watch Law and Order so, in fact, I am doubly-qualified to speak knowledgeably about this matter).
