I just got a Burns and Allen photo (circa the time of their tv show), with Gracie wearing a white dress with a 'vine-like' swirly design on it.  The signature goes through that design which makes me wonder if it's real.  If it was a preprint or secretarial, surely the signature would be in a lighter area with no interference from colors in the photo...? 

The inscription says:

There are smudges here and there, with George's signature being in a heavier (thicker line) hand. 

Is this a common secretarial, etc., or did they regularly sign at the time?
