Hi there,

I am interested to know if one this autograph is genuine, it is in my late father's 1st edition copy of Contact by Carl Sagan, I don't really have any reason to believe it is inauthentic but I don't really know much about him or the book. I'm also wondering if it would be something that would be worth paying a service for a certificate, I'm not going to be selling the book but having a certificate might be nice?

That looks very different from what I have seen of his books and letters.

Of course, I have not looked at "billions and billions" of his signatures ;)

I found this by Das1330 at rebelscumj.com:

Unfortunately I don't really have any way of finding out how it was acquired, though it was just stashed away with a lot of old books, likely not touched for 30 years+ but I can definitely see differences in the signatures, it would have been better if it was signed to him directly for the clear "with", There are a few other signed books but this was the only one that had been wrapped up and so the condition is much better than the rest.

Will wait and see what the overall opinion is on here before packing it away.

Here's one I got from him TTM.

I grabbed this from RR:

I am looking at the size of the first name in relation to the last, and other things.

Hi Cairo, welcome to autograph live.  I examined your Carl Sagan signed book.  I've been looking myself for a decent Carl Sagan graph, and yours doesn't look like any that i have seen. So in my opinion this is not the Carl Sagan that I have viewed. Not even close.

Cairo, I  did see one or two that are similar to your graph.  So I stand corrected, though I'm seating down now. I apologize for not mentioning that to you.
