Hi everyone! I'm new on here and looking for your opinions on a piece that I just bought. I have just bought a cast signed Ghostbusters poster from Antiquities of California via their website. I have compared some of the signatures and they look alright from what I've seen, but then again I don't know anything about authenticating a signature.
This was a pretty expensive piece but I'm a huge fan and I've been looking for a real one for a long time. After doing some research on this website I have gotten a little weary about their authentications and was just wondering if you guys could help me out. I do want to stress however that so far their staff has been very kind and haven't given me a reason distrust them, but I feel that I should cover all of my bases. They claim that all of these signatures were done at the same time during a scheduled sitting.
I haven't received the poster yet so I will give you the pictures that I have, but I can post better ones in a few weeks when it comes in if needed.
Thanks for your opinions, this is a great web site!

The issue isn't the trial. The issue is that the feds were auctioning off memorabilia purchased by Congressman Jesse Jackson, Jr. with campaign funds. The disgraced Congressman is going to the slammer over the misuse of the funds.
Questions arose about the authenticity of a Van Halen guitar supposedly signed by Eddie Van Halen and Michael Jackson. The feds pulled it from the auction.
There was media interest in the remaining items, including "signed" Michael Jackson and Bruce Lee items. The feds wisely shutdown the auction to determine the authenticity of the items.

The Congressman purchased those items from Antiquities at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas. Same company, different location.
Some of the items were "authenticated" by Donald Frangiapani. He was exposed on HBO's Real Sports. The program obtained known fake "autographed sports memorabilia from the FBI. Frangiapani subsequently "authenticated" pieces he was asked to authenticate.
He went on to sue HBO and their (then) correspondent Armen Keteyian. The lawsuit was dismissed.
Frangiapani was an associate of noted "fauxrensic authenticator" Chris Morales, although he has denied they were partners.
The landlord's landlord.
The man never got the recognition he deserved. Absolutely brilliant in some of the Abbott & Costello TV show bits.
I believe your still photo is from the bit where Lou "proves" that 7 x 13 is 28.
Yeah I'll be sticking around for sure! After this is over I'm still going to go ahead and find a legitimate Signed Ghostbusters poster. It's the holy grail to me.
If one doesn't ever really come up for sale I will have to assemble all of the signatures separately and assemble one myself. Which means I may need the help of people with educated opinions.
Thanks all!
Do some digging on this site on cast signed posters (from any movie)..... it may just stop you from searching. (they usually don't exist--they are usually forged)
With Bill, you're just going to have to accept what's available. He usually doesn't sign, and when he does it's on weird items. I have 3 Bill items: 1 is an old contract to appear on SNL, signed William James Murray. The next 2 come from a charity auction he supplied. It's a pair of shoes that he drew on and signed his first name in one shoe and last name in the other. He also signed the COA for the shoes, and it came with great pictures of him drawing on the exact shoes and holding them.
Hello Brad,
I think you have got your suspicious confirmed that the poster is not genuine. So please request a refund asap.
I looked at their website for some of the autographs that I know very, very well. I looked at their Iron Maiden and Black Sabbath autographs, and none of those were even close to a genuine autograph signed by any of the members in the band. They have some signings with celebrities, so I will not say that everything they sell is fake. But the once that I'm familiar with are definitely not good.
And the nicer and convincing the staff is, the bigger is the chance that it's all a big scam. I had the staff from American Royal Arts call me just because I requested one of their catalogs. And they really wanted to sell me some of their stuff.
Good Luck and please stay around.
Yeah I'm requesting a full refund first thing tomorrow. I'll make sure to tell everyone here how it goes.
Ernie Hudson does autograph shows and dan ackroyd does signings of his crystal skull vodka. In NJ last week he was signing one piece of memorabilia per person besides his bottles, he had all kinds of ghostbusters fans there. Now murray, just wait who knows, he might do a show for money.
