Charles Bronson signed cheques
Just wondering if anyone knows if all the Charles Bronson signed cheques out there were actually signed by him, or were secretarial or maybe a stamp? Here’s two for comparison…
The first is uncertified, the second is Beckett…they both look a bit different with the slant to them, and especially the ‘B’…

My thought is that the Beckett cert'd check (2nd one you posted) is a secretarial. Here's another with this sig. style. It originated from the Bronson's business office on Sunset Blvd:

& here's a personal check made out to "Cash" (sig. matches the 1st one you posted). I believe this style is the real deal given it's from their personal home account in Vermont and filled out by hand by Bronson:

Is there a case where we know that some are secretarial and we're trying to figure out which ones? Or is this just speculation that a secretary was used because different varieties exist?

I think it would be useful to have a Bronson signature study similar to the Jackie Gleason, Charlton Heston, Redd Foxx and Andy Griffith ones. I do not know Bronson but would enjoy seeing one. History For Sale has two Bronson checks.

Yes, I agree.
I see some similarities between them. Also, the business checks would have been signed in volume and in quick succession while sitting at a desk.
My only concern is that sometimes people make assumptions bases on idle speculation.
Take Jimmy Carter, for example. There are huge variations in his signature based on where and when it was signed. Each variety is legitimate.

That is true. A few years ago, it was thought that one of the Redd Foxx varieties might be secretarial. I was able to find signed paintings of his that had that same signature. He sometimes abbreviated his last name. Normally, one would expect a secretary signing a check would have a signature card of their own at the bank and sign with their name. So, it would be interesting to find as many known exemplars as possible. There are likely some signed studio documents out there.
