I agree with your statements about Bowie. Thank you your your valued anecdote. :-)

It is a circus, and I am content to spectate, and save folks $$$

Hello, arrived today

Great. A bit better than expected but I would still wonder how it looks in hand w/o optimal flash bounce back photography. I still can't actually see the inscription. I just hope the signature is clearly the focal point. The busy even colorful background artwork by Haggerty is a serious distraction. Show a clear large photo of the entire thing at a slight angle to avoid glare.Contrast must be priority.

Here is another example of great contrast C. 1960 or so. Great photograph as well.

This was claimed to be secretarial but I proved otherwise. In a very long thread. I showed a clearly present consistency in his hand from 1958? or earlier that appeared years later (1975, 1982) in a personal handwritten letter to his father a and a holiday card to is wife and kids.which was like a letter.

The Written Word example vintage examples c. 1958-60:

These below are those shown in the other post on page 3.

The OP, the 8x10 that was posted, and the 1982 letter.

I was the one who claimed the Perkins was secretarial and I stand by that opinion.  Not out of defiance but from studying him a bit.

Yes. Despite the evidence which you never explained or addressed, like this:

Steve Cyrkin saw it and said so.

And this - 1976 letter to his wife and the OP:

Look at the construction that starts the same and the "E's" and the ending upswing alongside the OP. Again, why and how would Perkins own writing of individual letters match the supposed secretarial again, now it is 15 years later? Even the ink deposits? I believe the conclusion is obvious.  This the same hand in these images. Gabe at Schubertiade also believes the OP as he is selling several right now.

It's secretarial IMO.  Not even of the quality of THE WRITTEN WORD secretarial due to the size.

It sat on eBay at continually reduced prices for many months.  The collector's market seemed to have been speaking as well on it.

Did you eventually sell it off or return it to to the same seller as the also 5" x 7" sized Joan Crawford that I pointed out was most probably secretarial when you asked me?  We agreed on that one eventually.

p.s. I'm not perfect and I may be wrong on the Perkins.  But I agree with other collectors who feel similarly.  You apparently still have a different thought, which is ok for you.  There's definitely subjectivity in this hobby.

I appreciate that. No, I can't even find the Perkins right now with all that has been going on around here. Yes, Patton said "...if you are all thinking the same thing, someone is not thinking! or words to that effect, so yes, I agree there as well. Different perceptions of the same data. Even a coin has three sides.

No one has yet explained why/how the same hand appears throughout Perkins career even in his private personal correspondence etc and on documents. etc. I have shown them. There is more.

What I I have not seen any secretarials as far as I know and remember IIRC, just forgeries of varying quality. Like those "To Roy" and the other blue ink parade.

Best wishes always,

Eric

PS - what do you think of those Crawfords? I ask because I obviously value your input. I am considering the not blue letter - are you comfortable with that signature and content? It's from George Houle.I posted a comparison blue letter from RR archives. Differences are there. But...what do you think? Everyone has signed photographs. Her dedications and inscriptions are rather generic but the content is great. I would be very interested in what you think, PM or in the thread.

Thank you.

A member messaged me privately asking why Anthony Perkins is suddenly on a David Bowie thread.  I told them that this was a long ago disagreement on the authenticity of a Perkins piece that Eric and I had.  The reason it seemed to be now inserted on a Bowie thread was to get my attention because I was not responding to a Crawford thread.

Quite frankly, I'm not taking the bait any longer.  It's too much for a hobby board IMHO.

I've been disturbed by some of the violent imagery that you have been sharing on other threads in recent days that has since been removed by the administrator after I alerted him.  I'm thankful for that.

I wish you well.

As do I to you. I really hope you believe that.

It isn't bait, and I am not Quint. It was a desire for you considered opinion I was looking for, not an argument re Crawford letters & photos etc or anything else. Essentially, which do you like? Or not?

I did not see "defiance" but I did not see any explanation either re Perkins. I showed that Perkins SP from Gabe only as an example of great contrast, nothing more. I don't remember if I posted it or not at this point but I sent my silver on black Bowie gatefold CD from 2010 in a PM to show "pop" and contrast extreme. Beautiful solid signature as well. Perhaps you remember that item.I no longer have it.

Differences of opinions are welcome as are differing vantages and experiences. I am having difficulty typing any more right now. Finding the right keys and hitting them is not easy. Purely unrelated stress.

Best always,

Eric

PS - I too have been in contact with Steve but about other things on the whole. I am not arguing here Eddy.Regarding  these matters all I said was "I consider Eddy my friend" as I recall.

And I still do.
