I have a couple of old and in poor shape magic books signed by Harry Houdini and was wondering if I should get PSA on them. I would like to sell them and if they would be more valuable if authenticated, I would go that route. I am not sure of the value because of the poor shape the books are in.

If you want to sell them directly to a collector then they'll be easier to sell and you'll get more with PSA. But check the cost of having them authenticated to see if it makes sense. The fees can be steep in some cases.

If you're selling to a dealer or consigning an auction, it may make more sense to let them handle authentication. Most historic autograph collectors don't use the services.

Agree with Steve C. Assuming this is authentic -- I have no idea -- consign to RR Auction or Heritage and you don't have to worry about it. Going the eBay route by yourself... even with a TPA letter... seems like shooting yourself in the foot. In general, deep pocketed buyers don't do eBay. Blue chip material typically does better at a reputable auction house.
