This is another of a small group of autographs that have been seriously questioned and disputed as authentic. I understand that Dolly may not be as valuable or interesting as Paul McCartney or the Rolling Stones. But still.....
This is an original, hand drawn sketch by local Gatlinburg, TN artist name Ron Needham. It is signed by him. Mr. Needham is not well known but did capture Dolly's attention on a series of drawing he did of her. Together they made lithograph copies of these drawings in the last 1980's which she also signed and they were sold in a charity auction.
This is not one of these litho copies but the original which became available in an estate sale of a Dollywood executive. The copies were numbered with Dolly's signature without personalization.
What are your thoughts on it's authenticity? Why, if it is a forgery, why would some fool put a ridiculous inscription on it instead of "For Bob" for something else?
These type of instances drive me crazy! I did have an art gallery curator look at the drawing to confirm it is an original drawing.
