Elton John, opinions please

I know this doesn't look like Sir Elton's recent signature, but since it is dated 1978 I thought I would request opinions from members who are more knowledgeable than I.  Thinking perhaps that his earlier style signature differed considerably?

You are right to think his style differed from that time but this one is pretty comical for people who researched his signature over the years.

I don't think it was even intended as a forgery.  Based on the added text in the middle of EK's "signature", I think it was meant as a joke.
