Here is a 'signed' photograph of Frank Sinatra in fountain pen that is coming up soon at auction.  I'm interested in what members think.   For comparison, I'm also attaching an album page that Bonhams sold at one point.  I personally don't believe the photo signature is real.  To me at least, the photo signature looks like a flawed attempt (nice placement on the drum though!).

Robert Ryan's pretty successful as well!

I must have missed that. I don't know his signature.

The Ryan is close.  They should have not precisely touched the first and last name together with the pen for him though.  Whoever did it (like the Sinatra fitting neatly on the drumhead) they were into visual neatness rather than realism.

...and that blue again!

That "Swanson" bears only a cursory similarity at best. Awful.

I don't see the location of that particular signature as a red flag. The Golden Arm photo is more potentially concerning IMO. If someone handed me that dark photo with a white circle on it I'd be inclined to sign it there.  Any other light area would result in a sideways signature which would take time to reorient to execute and it is rushed so...

The Brando being in such a dark place is another story.

The question would be what is known to have come out of Pierre's collection that is authentic?

It is an interesting discussion but the OP is one that would eliminate itself due to the source w/o further thought for me - International Autographs or whatever in Spain. LiveAuctioneers is a nuthouse free for all platform - but some of our most respected members have sold there to be sure.

That could be a touchy issue about what has come out of that collection that is indeed authentic.  I've seen (and still can find) very well regarded dealers selling from that collection over time and I do not for one minute believe most of these dealers were trying to pull anything over on their customers.  I think they were consigned material that came with a reasonable sounding backstory.  I'm not defending them, but it's not just IAA and their auctions that have featured items from this collection.

From that statement some material has been authentic?

I'm not the last word on that collection.  I just know what I've witnessed coming to market over time internationally from dealerships and auction houses and have consistently been left cold by what I've seen.  As I mentioned, I was bitten myself by purchasing from it before I started researching it a bit via sales archives and current listings.  It's been very spread out in Europe and the US.

Others (particularly those who have sold/are selling from it) would have a very different opinion.  Of that I'm pretty certain.
