This Freddie Mercury autograph was given to me as a gift a few years back. The older friend, and an experienced autograph collector, had it in his possession from his sister, who got this signed in person, as he told me.  I have no reason to believe he was lying.

I have to sell in unfortunately and I was either going to send it to PSA/JSA first, because I know many buyers/bidders will claim it to be fake, etc. I decided to put it on eBay instead and within a few hours, received a message claiming it was 110% fake. I truly do not believe this to be the case, but decided to take it down to eventually send to PSA/JSA when I get the extra $100, to make sure.

I wanted to ask for everyones opinion on this item. The sister wrote when and where it was obtained. At this time, I do have it matted and framed. Any opinions are welcome, but I will still eventually send it to PSA/JSA. Thanks guys! I have seen many examples on google etc....which are VERY similar to what I have,

Sorry but this is absolutely not genuine.
+1
Agreed. Not genuine imo.
Sent a message to Innuendo. Haven't heard back yet.

Hi....just stepping in here....as I was the person that owned this autograph. It was indeed obtained in person by my cousin back in Chicago on the date that I wrote on the card. Given the fact that she may have not known what his signature looked like....I highly doubt she signed it herself...and passed it on to me. From my understanding by her she was able to get it as he was coming out a stage door...into his car...so in all probability it might have been rushed....I have been collecting for 40 years now...and have had the  opportunity to  differentiate between real and fake graphs. I have also took the time to locate "supposed" other real graphs of Freddie....and they look spot on to the one above.  Again, authenticating any autograph....does take time...and to those who flatly say "fake"....please prove it.   Thank you for your time. AB

Thank you for correcting me, Andy. I forgot whether it was your sister or cousin. But a female, all the same!

I seriously doubt this is authentic! There is no way this would pass any authentication!

Not to be rude at all, I would love explanations as to why folks believe this is not authentic "in any way". I know it is very easy to just call out its not authentic or to agree with someone that has 'experience' in finding authentic and not authentic graphs. I've always enjoyed hearing folks reasons. :)

Because Freddie´s handwritting was different - much edgier, sharper, letter formation seems like typical female´s handwritting...

BTW - this is not rushed one, it´s not written in hurry, fast... it´s more like slowly drawn stuff.

okay...my last  hurrah on this FM sig crap...The concert was The Hot Space Tour....at Poplar Creek Music Theatre in Hoffman Estates, Illinois...August 13, 1982....same as the date on the card...and again..this was in 1982...I highly doubt my cousin would have known....and much less cared  what his sig looked like....or knew what it looked it...so there lies the presumption that the sig was written by a female. Just my thoughts.

Sometimes opinions can differ. I do not know Mercury's signature per say although I just looked through another thread on this site at some examples. To my untrained eye there are similarities and differences. I believe getting a quick opinion from Roger Epperson may be a solution for consideration. I believe it's $15. Letting an expert look at it may be the best and fairest way to resolve this.

Now this....this is an answer. Thank you, Joe W. I have entered this autograph to different places for opinions and I may ask Roger. Thanks!
