George Sanders (the autograph dealer, not the actor)

Hello!

One of my autographs was purchased from George Sanders of Piece of the Past Auctions, and came with this 1/15/1998 COA. Is this the same George Sanders who wrote the Sanders Price Guide?

Also, I believe that George Sanders passed away that same year. Does anyone know whether George signed his COAs himself?

Many thanks!

EJ

Hi EJ,

I've never seen one of these COAs or don't know if that's the George Sanders who wrote Sanders Price Guide to Autographs. The autograph is what's important, of course. Would you like to post it for opinions?

Thanks! I just confirmed that George Sanders consigned his collection to Kevin Martin to sell it in a series of auctions as he retired in the late 90s, and these were his hand-signed COAs used for that series of sales.
I’m comfortable with the (primary) autograph that Sanders certified; I was actually (and amusingly) only curious about whether the COA was signed by The George Sanders or not. I have other items signed by Charles Hamilton, among other noteworthy autograph collectors / dealers through the years.
A niche side topic to collect, I know.
Best,

EJ

This from his 1994 price guide book you can  compare the 2 signatures

Great, thanks!

It does appear to be his signature although the COA is so generic that does not show any verification it actually matches the item.

Many thanks. Yep, it was a lazy way of doing it for sure! At least I have the auction catalogue page which includes my item (highlighted) with photo and description (and noting that the auction was specifically to sell Sanders’ collection).
