Does this David Bowie look real to everyone?  It’s authenticated by REAL but I did a BGS quick opinion and they said unlikely to pass authentication. Thanks for any info.

Pass from me.

To me, it looks like an Andy Peters special. Does it have a history/provenance that predated 2016 or so? It only brought $357. Seems low looking at the sales history. YMMV. I am very cautious with Bowie since the Ford fiasco.

What’s the Ford fiasco?  What happened with that?  There’s no provenance that I know of.

that is exactly what i thought when i saw it.  Also does it look neatrly 30 years old? No

I have several signatures from sources other than the much criticized Peters/Ford and they look very good even if they are 40-50 years old.

Hello,

Read this thread - gets interesting on page 2

andy peters/Tony Ford "Bowie"

There are dozens of threads like this. I just picked one. As far as I am concerned they are one person. Everyone who bought from Andy paid Ford. I believe "Andy" was created to provide a signature on his letters. They have never been seen in the same place at the same time or something. Anyway, everyone got a special price, everyone got something "from an RCA exec" or the like and...everyone got XXXXXX. He fooled everyone.  If you follow the advice he gives on his own website (where I am still listed as "the man with the sharpest eye out there") his items are eliminated. I had a large self portrait litho, refunded  (by Ford) and he did not want the litho back That says enough. Over $50,000 in fake Bowie's was refunded overall.

Oh wow.  I will stay away from this one and I'll be very weary of others.  Thank you for the info

Most welcome.

Sorry, I refuse to discuss the Peters/Ford case but in my eyes it is good.

Here is a Bowie 1997 IP from Bjarne:

Here is a more typical 1997 IP, obtained by me prior to the Nottingham gig that summer:
