I said "k" and "kie" - yes, the "c"! Terrier is correct - and I can spell, believe me ;). The "kie" here appears uniform compared to any of the authentics.
Eric
Thanks Terrier. I've seen many of these certed by TPAs. Hopefully they are removed from the market eventually.
The "ck" you mention does indeed stand out in the authentic examples. The secretarial signatures' "k" look more like an "h" in formation. Thanks for the tip!
Hi Mike,
Yes, re "ck", and when the form of the "kie" is so uniform, like repeats almost of the same shape, and the "k" lacks a back-hook, you are dealing with a secretarial. Another thing is the two "a's" - the second "a" should lay down compared to the first and have a different construction.
Eric
A simple signed index card/page is difficult as well!
That is fine - nice example in fountain C. 1955-60 perhaps earlier. His signature did not really change all that much. I am dating to the later '50's as the "eason" has simplified and "j' and "g" have relaxed a bit.
Eric
Hi again,
The "g" is also quite a bit to the right which also makes me think 1950's/slightly later. That the "j" and "a" and not connected pushes it forward some also - perhaps to 1960. Hard to say - light impression (on me and the paper). The usual density of ink at the middle of the last name, in the "as" is also not present, pushing it forward again. Nice example.
Eric
Thanks Eric! I'll add that to my authentic exemplar file
Oh I thought you had bought it!
Eric
Hi Mike,
I am so happy you got it! I's wonderful! It has been said such an example is about $125-$150 or so retail. I have paid a nice premium for an example dated with 30 days of the first episode of the Honeymooners.
Congratulations!
Eric
