that one is indeed strange. (the one from Germany).

Early on in this thread Roger Epperson mentions that confirmed in-person examples typically show the "i" in Lewis dotted near the end of the word, where as the alleged Whitten secretarials are dotten closer to the "L".

Does this still seem to hold true now, about the book signatures for example, more than 3 years after it's release?

It doesn't hold true. He signed a series of photos in which several of the dots are close to the respective "L"s.

Is there a certain JLL autograph style that's considered "typical", the recent IP you posted for example? And when JLL does vary his autograph, do we know if it usually happens in batches, or can they change from one to the next?

After reportedly signing thousands upon thousands of books in a consistently atypical style, seems strange he'd never used that style ever again. I just wonder what the reason behind this might be, the choice of writing implement perhaps?

I don't know if I'd use the word "typical" in relation to any JLL autograph, but it does show common traits (flourish at the end of the "J", looped "Y"s and "L"s, two different styles of "E") and is one of the nicer ones that I've seen. The "Jerry" portion is abbreviated as "Jery", which is pretty common. You'll also see ones that look like "Jey", and of course "Jerry." The amount of detail in his signatures varies to a great degree.

I don't know if he necessarily varies his signature in "batches", but when he signs a batch he seems to try to make them appear highly consistent. I don't think he signed that many book pages. I believe it was only 750. I think the book signatures were mainly affected by number he had to sign. They're small, tight and abbreviated. We've only seen a small percentage of those signatures, but it looks like at some point he was struggling to get through it.

I just found this in a pile its an inperson jerry  did for me don't think I posted it before

its the actual signed induction dinner program

Jerry Lee Lewis is selling signed books and photos in his eBay store. His autographs look slam-dunk real. Nothing like the ones in the books we were concerned about.

Here they are:

Yep.. Those books look great!  The pre-signed books at the book events.... that is another story.  A long one....

It's a similar situation to what we've seen with the TTM signatures. He had to sign 750 book pages within a restricted space. He chose a tight, abbreviated signature style and attempted to keep it consistent over those 750 signatures. The signatures from his store are larger and more elaborate. He didn't have so many to sign.

"Keep it consistent over those".

So for 850 books he signed one way, totally out of the blue.  He made a "conscious effort" to sign those book event books a totally different way.   OK

Mark

It's not "totally out of the blue." Roger authenticated a JLL for RR Auction that Steve believes is in the same hand as one of the book signatures.
