Also is the guitar itself valuable as this seems a lot of money?    Thanks for any help.

After seeing all of these responses, which seem to dispute the authenticity of this "piece," shouldn't people be asking about AFTAL and UACC Registered Dealer legitimacy? Because this seller apparently has those labels.

If you want an authentic piece, one of those Genesis books would be nice, or you can go to Signed, Sealed & Delivered and do a search for Jimmy Page. You can take what you find there to the bank.

Im not good enough on Page to really know. His more modern signatures are hard for me to authenticate accurately. But i can give my opinion on a few things. Lets just say it is authentic. If so, the next thing to do would be to contact Roger or someone on this forum and see what a Page signed pickguard goes for. I am guessing its around the 3 to 400 mark, but could be wrong on that.

As already mentioned, this is not a Gibson guitar, which is the brand that Page plays. This guitar is an epiphone, which is owned by Gibson, but are far cheaper in most circumstances. Epiphones are produced in Japan, and typically of lesser quality components. Thats not always true though. Epiphone makes a series called the "Elitist", which are every bit as good of a Gibson in my opinion. I have both Gibson Les Pauls and an Epiphone Les Paul Elitist and the Elitist is every bit as good as a typical Gibson les paul standard. But sorry for getting sidetracked.

Where the price would be on this item, if real, would be the guitar. If it was a Gibson, it would add alot of value. Now i cant read the model on the truss rod cover, but if i had to guess this is Epiphones version of a les paul studio or standard. Which would put it in the 300-400 range, as already mentioned.  So even if this item was authentic, it wouldnt be worth the amount he is asking in my opinion. If authentic, i would guess it would go for around 7 to 800, assuming i am correct on the model.

Now as far as UACC/AFTAL. There are some great AFTAL dealers out there, but the MJ AFTAL scandal completely turned me off to the brand. Not the dealers, just the brand. As far as UACC goes, my opinion is that you really have to be careful. You must be careful of sellers claiming UACC dealer vs member. Members arent held to any type of quality control, as dealers are. But that said, i regularly see pretty bad forgeries being offered by some UACC dealers. I think that the UACC really needs to crack down on this, as some are pretty obvious. At one time it seemed fairly safe to buy from a UACC dealer or AFTAL dealer, drawing credit from there member status. But now, that seems to have gone away in my opinion, or at least laxed. I would scrutinize there inventory the same as an ebay sellers. You just cant buy on brand/organization alone anymore. Sad but true

See a list of UACC Registered Dealers here.  Bid4Sport Auctions is listed there as a registered dealer.

I could be way off here, but you can't buy a pickguard signed by Jimmy Page for $400. If any of you have one, send it my way.

As far as having too many humps- I've attached a photo of a Jimmy Page autograph that came with Roger's LOA that has a ton of humps.

Agree 100%. A Page signed pickguard would be worth a great deal more than $400. Regardless of the guitar it is affixed to here, a les paul style pickguard can be mounted on any les paul style guitar (Gibson or epiphone), so IMO the value is in the signature, not the guitar in this case. Now in the case of a Jimmy Page signed guitar where the signature is on the body of the guitar, it would definitely add value if it was a true Gibson (versus an epiphone). Just my two cents...
Jimmy Page sells signed fine art prints on his website. At least you will know its authentic.

What do you think about bid4sportautographs  other items like this Paul McCrtney or Neil Young?

I personally have been unable to find Page authentic signed ANYTHING for less than $500 nonetheless a pickguard. I'd imagine that would be thousands. If anyone has an authentic pickguard for less than $1k, sold right now. No joke

I may be off on the pickguard estimate. They may very well go for more than that. But you can find Page items for the 200 mark fairly regularly on ebay that are completley authentic. I have purchased 2 on ebay for the 200 mark. One was a signed photograph which passed PSA QO and the other was a signed LP insert which resembled a road sign. It was dually signed by David Coverdale and Page. I sent it to Roger via QO which passed and then after keeping it in my collection for about a year, sent it to RR auction and it was sold last year. They are out there, its just a matter of patience and taking time to wade through tons of forgeries on ebay to find a good deal.

I could have sworn i have seen a les paul pickguard signed by Page and Plant for well under 1000 dollars. I wanted to say it was at RR, but i looked and couldnt find anything. It may have been at autographsale.net from Grieg. Maybe he will comment on this. But i could have sworn i saw a les paul guard go for the 400 range somewhere, and it was authentic.  But could be wrong on that. But i think if your willing to wait you can find an authentic Page on some type of medium for the 200 mark or under. I think i paid 180 for that coverdale/page signed piece.

I don't like either of them.

With Jimmy Page, the money is in signed Zeppelin items and guitars.
Exactly. Signatures like these are worth more when on an item most associated with the individual. Same reason a Paul McCartney signed solo photograph is (generally) worth less than a Paul McCartney signed Beatles album. Again, just my opinion...
