I think it looks very odd. Why the pen lift prior to the tail of the “R”? Also, the end portion of the signature looks strange.

Is "thanks" a common inscription? I looked at well over 125 last night and saw very few, limited to the 60's and perhaps bit  later. This book is 2010 and the "thanks" seems earlier? The signature style?

I haven’t followed signed copies of Life very closely, but I don’t recall seeing another one with a “Thanks” inscription.
