His early autographs were all over the place. Just look at the variation in the Score Board cards alone.
This is like JFK all over again.
Thanks for posting those pics they are quite helpful
Do you see what I mean when I say I think Kobe was trying to “find” his autograph around the time that he was an NBA rookie? It’s like he was experimenting and trying to decide what he wanted his autograph to look like.
Regarding Kobe autograph prices, I definitely think they are going to come down because there is quite a big supply of them. People right now are way overpaying in my opinion. However, I don’t think they will ever come down to price level they were at before the sudden tragedy. You’re not going to be able to get signed basketballs for $300 anymore like before, but they also are not going to stay at prices between $2000-$3000 either.
So in my opinion, there’s a couple of factors that will make Kobe prices probably stay at least nearly double or more than where they were before the crash.
For one thing, Kobe was very well-liked, and he was a superstar. Second, the nature of the tragedy will always be remembered by people. It was such a horrific, sudden, unexpected event where not only Kobe died but so did 8 other people including Kobe’s 13yo daughter Gianna. The fact that Kobe was young and he and his beautiful young daughter died tragically together will always make Kobe an endearing figure in people hearts and minds.
I think you can expect Kobe to remain a highly desirable autograph for years to come. I think he will now always be one of the few most desired autographs for basketball collectors.
