I was exploring this site and discovered that liveauctioneers is not free from autograph scammers, much like Ebay.

What about certain auction houses? Are some more reliable than others? Or despite their positive reviews, they have their mixed bag in what's real and what's not, as well?

For example, Mynt Auction comes out a lot, and they seem to be on the level. What do others think?

Heroes & Legends, ICZ Auctions, EB Autographs & Collectibles, are some common ones I'm coming across. What do people think of these four auction houses?

Any guidance would much be appreciated!

Thanks,

Al

Heroes and Legends, owned by Myron Ross, who died Sunday, is a well-known criminal organization. The largest seller, wholesale and retail, of classic rock and entertainment forgeries.

Wow -- didn't hear that Myron Ross died. He seemed old back in the early 90's when I caught him selling a Hendrix signed album (that came out after Jimi died!)  I wonder who will inherit all his forgeries that are sure to hit the market now?

Wow, pretty scary stuff Steve. Shocking to say the least.

You need to post links to the seller's main pages so members can review their offerings.

Besides Heroes and Legends, I would avoid at all costs dealing with ICZ auctions. There's a reason all their stuff sells so cheap. Live Auctioneers is a minefield -- that don't police what is on their platform and don't care if it's fake as they still get their money.

Thanks for the insight Bruce. And hearing about Heroes and Legends’ criminal affiliation, it sounds like LiveAuctioneers is a free for all site!

Anybody can list and sell, no holds barred!

LiveAuctioneers does not sell anything.  They are a platform where auction houses can show their lots and accept bids.  Each auction house has its own terms and conditions.

I am not surprised that some questionable material shows up listed through there, but I don't see a practical way for them to police it.

I am not sure if they have a mechanism to boot disreputable sellers off their platform.

Live Auctioneers can absolutely ban sellers who sell forgeries but they don't choose to. They don't respond well to complaints saying to take it up with the auction house. They are just as responsible as the forgery factories, as without their platform, they'd have nowhere to peddle their junk.

Steve,

I posted under "Hollywood" under  General Movie & TV Autographs my quesetion and images of 4 photos. I am hoping someone could be knowledgeable enough to address them.

Thank you.
