Greetings:
First, I wanted to say "thank you" to all of the members for sharing their knowledge and passion across this community. I was primarily in autograph "acquisition mode" about twenty years ago and wish a resource like this was available back then. However, I am SO appreciative that this group has formed to help promote and protect our hobby.
Second, I have spent HOURS combing through posts, images, opinions and other content across this forum prior to joining the community. I have tried to apply the knowledge and experience of others to be more informed and skilled in authentication. Over the next several weeks, I will be posting items from my collection to share my assessment and solicit input from others. As with most of us in this hobby, I am sure I have some clunkers (e.g., secretarials, forgeries, etc.). I welcome candid opinions on authenticity but value any "tells" on what makes something appear authentic or not. Always trying to learn more.
Finally, my primary motivation for flagging questionable items versus authentic items is to help our children understand the collection they will inherit at some point. Having had to sort through my parents and in-laws lifelong accumulations of stuff, I want to make sure I remove as much burden as possible for our kids including providing some direction on specific items whether they choose to keep, sell or donate them.
I look forward to learning more from and about each of you. Thank you.
