That’s not overwriting, but it needs to be figured out. Paul’s signature and the cigarette both have that same light duplication that’s exactly the same as the pen. I don’t see it on the album printing. It looks like something done in Photoshop.

The only thing I would/could imagine is it has something to do with it being signed on a laminated cover, as the UK covers have a higher gloss?

Adam, do you mean the deep lacquer is reflecting the writing? That could be the case.

Not a reflection, actually, but a shadow on the paper of the cover due to the angle of a light.

yes it does

This is an offset print in AURAIA DMS screen, so-called stochastic rosette, which does not allow any interference or moiré effects.A printing process that was introduced a few years ago and is still considered very good today. This can only be seen at high magnification.

The colors were not exactly reproduced on the first attempt. The first attempt was rub out, but you can still see the impression through the lacquer, and the cover was then printed a second time.

So are you saying this McCartney has been printed onto anf over the original signature.

No, the signature looks real, but it's not Part of the cover.

For what it's worth.....

Where did you get that from??

Well it has been done over.

Paul,

It's not done over. I think it's a shadow, since the lacquer of the cover is thick.

The tracks coa looks a lot fainter than the one originally posted also no Jane Asher.  It's difficult to say unless you have it in front of you.
