Lot of Michael Jackson signatures... real or fake? (Forger Erick Oswaldo McKay, Erick Mckay Burgos) marc-at2014, always-4-fun, bluelifesaver, disneycolector eBay names

Hope I'm asking this in the right section...
I've recently bumped into this person's little collection of MJ sigs...

My concern is that all those sigs look too similar... I'm thinking they're signed by the same person, but I'm stumped as to if they're really Michael.

Thank you for any opinions/help in advance.

MODERATOR NOTE:  All of Erick McKay Burgos' art folders on Deviant Art have been removed by him after being outted here.  They were screen captured before his removal and are listed below.   Please use them to reference as you read through this thread.

I do agree with you that it seems a bit 'un-Mike-like' to trace over a commercial drawing and then sign the piece.  I think any artist would be acutely aware that the original art has ownership and copyright, and would be very unlikely therefore to sign a tracing.

(I can imagine Michael  maybe sitting down with children and tracing drawings for fun, but actually his own children's drawings are all very individual, and I think he would always want to encourage a child's own creativity. )

I'm not sure that Michael (or indeed anyone) could copy a piece 'line and dimension perfect' in all respects....and even if he did, would he still sign it, as it is still not really 'his ' art.  Copying a photo is a different thing entirely, to copying someone else's drawing.

Well the other thing in regards to the Elizabeth - it doesn't even look like its done... its a very elementary type of tracing, with some cheek shading added in.  In fact when I first saw it - until I pulled it over the top, and saw exactly what was being traced - it looked very odd--and very unfinished - especially for Michael.  If he was perfected by this point in time to draw that precise he would have finished her - especially because it was Elizabeth.  He loved her dearly.

As I mentioned when I first posted these - I have nothing against anyone who has these, and I had no idea what I was going to find and who's.  I was looking online at all of Michaels "supposed" drawings and just started looking around to see if any photos matched the drawings--because to me, they stood out as traced pieces.

You have made very good observations but in looking at the Pinocchio for example you will see differences. You will see that the sleeve on the right arm is slightly off, the feet are slightly off, the feather in the hat is not the same size, his hair is different and so on. Also as mentioned the neckline on the Elizabeth Taylor is off, the hair has some differences, the nose appears slightly shorter. Just little things but they are close that's for sure. If you look at any good artist that has used references they can create things in near identical detail.

I agree.

I have seen drawings and art by Michael Jackson that are proven drawn by him taken from an image and drawn exactly on paper same as image.

I disagree.............Michael was an artist...even if he did "Draw" an image from a coloring book.....surely he would not lazily TRACE the outline and sign it as he was an artist.  IN MY PERSONAL OPINION......Those tracings don't look good...why would anybody want to spend money on something that is just outline TRACED.....then just have a questionable MJ signature on it.  I would be able to accept this more had it just been a coloring book paged that was colored in then allegedly signed by Michael.  Michael Jackson was a creative artist.....he wouldn't have spent :60 seconds tracing a drawing then signed his name on it, especially as an adult (even though he was eternally a child) as these signature styles tend to be more reflective of more recent times.  It is highly suspicious behavior in my opinion when someone or a seller goes out of there way to defend something that they did not witness being drawn and signed......especially when there is strong evidence that it is traced. Usually when someone is quick to defend something even after its been revealed, then they probably already knew what they had on their hands. In the serious autograph collecting hobby, EVERY smal ldetail counts (unless you are a seller or broker)....and these traced coloring books just scream suspicious. After the whole Erick McKay debacle, any Michael Jackson autograph hunter should consider all autographs not likely genuine until proven or fully studied otherwise.  That of course...is just my own opinion as I do collect myself.

Slight differences can easily occur during tracing.....The dead give away is the sizing......the outlines are almost dead on. These are likely traced.

Here is the photo that this artist used for reference.

Here is an example of a piece that MJ created. It is of Rock Hudson. He used a reference image. This is an example of a piece he referenced but you will see it is not as detailed as it could be. It has many differnces between the reference and the art. It is still a nice piece in my opinion but he didn't get this one as exact as he could of.

That looks like a photograph of Rock Hudson.

Just out of curiosity, the Rock Hudson, was that one one of yours?

I had run into some other crayon type drawings from Gotta Have Rock N Roll that I saved the other day.   They were sold in Sept 2013  (these can be clicked also to enlarge---when I add more than one pic I drag them down quite a bit smaller as to not take up so much room on the discussion).  I'm adding your Rock onto the top of it so that visually we can see it along with the others, I hope you don't mind.
