I don't know this signature, but why would someone seek the autograph of a burgeoning dance student working at a Dunkin Doughnuts (1977-78)? Is the date of the signing wrong? By 1979 she was a backup dancer for someone or other.

Looks like Whitford added '15 and it looks to be a somewhat modern signature anyway, so I don't think that's it.

Madonna 1977

This original, never-before-seen nude photograph of Madonna was taken by Cecil Taylor in 1977 at the Art Worlds Institute of Creative Arts in Ann Arbor Michigan. Madonna was 18 and a student at the Institute

She signed her first record deal in 1982, so it is possible someone saw her talents in the late 70's and asked for an autograph. It's not unheard of to be asked for an autograph before making it famous. And I can use myself as an example. I was asked for my autograph at 12 yrs old due to the certain talent I possessed and someone obviously thought they'd try to capitalize on getting one of my first sigs. That's all I'm saying about that haha. But it is a true story.

I new her back then and knowbody was asking for her autograph. she was around all the time in the clubs. in fact a jacket from the elevator guy at danceteria sold recenty and he didn't event bother do have madona sign it .she was a knowbody till she broke in if I rember 1985 or so., she was all over the clubs in nyc .she was dating the club dj trying to get a deal then seymore signed her eventualy

his jacket has a bunch of local knowbodys on it haring , sharaff , basquitt I think Warhol , sprouse .just a typical nite out for everyone

theres tons of stuff written about the early days before she broke.

my guess the earlist would be around 82 or 83 rember they sent out 12 inch dance vinyl to break her not full alblbums.it took a while for her to catch on more than a dance act

I did her first shows at radio city then blew up they though her at madision square garden and she was impossible

if I rember she was one of the early acts at live aid still not that popular yet.
