I’m only relaying what you have said to me in this discussion. I don’t want anyone to get into trouble we just have differences of opinion I respect yours and we will move on. Thanks Eric.
Thank you Kieran. :-)
Let me take the bad cop position. I'm with Epperson on this. I think it's good and it has the right amount of "fade" which should have made it easier for the critics, but no matter what, they will be biased by doubt. They are fixated on reasons why it can't be real instead of why it could. If you're happy with it, that's all that matters. If Roger gives it a letter (which of course doesn't matter to some people) it will be deemed authentic and you could consign it to any auction house. Enjoy it and don't let these guys get to you!
Did you get a quick opinion from him or an actual COA from him?
The dude said he sent it to Roger, so he'll physically be able to inspect it
Alright that's sounds more reliable, thanks for letting me know because he said two of my quick opinions were authentic when they weren't and everyone rightfully disagreed on it here.
I got 2 quick opinions a Beckett which said likely authentic and to send it in,also Epperson which said it looks good so I sent it to him for LOA. I personally, don’t believe what they are saying about Andy Peters As Robby Said why is his website still up with examples and he is still regarded are no1 Bowie expert. I can’t find anything about him forging Bowie autos surely it would be in some kind of news as high reguarded as he is. I mean gradd was in the news passing fakes at Beckett.
I Agree if Epperson gives LOA I know it’s good. I personally, don’t believe what they say Andy Peters has very kindly helped me on identifying fakes before. Also, it seems very word of mouth like a rumour with no actual proof I can’t find anything on google about him being a serial forger, just about his good work as a Bowie Authenticator. Surely,if he was a serial forger he would have backlash and be in some kind on news like Gradd.
All TPA's have been involved in some type of conflict or another, including Roger. There was a big deal made over a Zeppelin album that Roger gave his blessing to that Steve Grad took exception to. Google it. But Roger is my go-to guy regarding music related items.
I agree, but surely if Andy was a serial forger and selling $50,000 or close to that he would be in some kind of news and his website would have been taken down but as it stand it’s still up and I can’t find anything to suggest what they are accusing him of doing.
There are many sites selling known forgeries discussed online that remain up, so that a site remains up should not be taken too much to heart IMO.
Kieran,
Antiquities Intl. in Caesar's Palace Las Vegas sold blatant forgeries for more than 30 years. They sold things like band-signed Beatles Sgt. Pepper's albums for $25,000 or less that would be worth $100,000's if real.
They sold millions of dollars a year in forgeries, but I can only think of one article or news story about their forgeries over that time. That was a TV news story that I was interviewed for.
Buy what you want, Kieran. But if you put your head in the sand buying autographs, one day you'll find out it's quicksand.
