One of the best way to successfully slow down this forgery racket is for the stars themselves to step up and get involved. Wish more had Mark's attitude toward this. It's much easier to make a case when the signer says it's not their signature.

Great that he is getting involved and hopefully more follow. It would be good if the law forced eBay etc to be responsible for what they sell

I will never knock a celeb for trying to help this hobby, but with the logistics of this attempt to "protect the fans," it is bound to fail.

Nearly 100% of the bad Hamills out there are coming from individuals, not autograph dealers. Sellers across ebay worldwide are the culprits, not just California dealers.

Mark should sit down with David Duchovny and Dean Cain if he wants to see where this all leads, they tried it back in the 90's.

Perhaps Mark Hamill will occasionally join us in our Star Wars discussion whenever the authenticity of one of his autographs is being questioned.  Thanks for posting the article Bruce.  Very interesting.

The best thing a celeb can do to combat forgeries is to make their autograph available. Sell it on your website, do signings, sign more than your initials for 3 fans at premieres.

If Mark Hamill set up a Store on his website, people would have an official channel to purchase his autograph and would not turn to eBay. People go to eBay when there are no other options.

I have always said that the #1 thing we need to do to fight forgeries is to raise awareness. An article in the L.A. Times, news segments, etc, are great starts.
