Michael Jackson drawings (Miscell inc. 'Historic portraits' and 'Disney characters')

I'm noticing a sudden influx of MJ signed Michael Jackson drawings coming on to the auction market, which seem to share the common themes of either 'portraits of historical figures'  or 'Disney characters'.

Both of these themes are of course recognised from Michaels' drawings both at a young age and later in life, but it is interesting that so many new drawings are being released on to the market at the same time.

Here are some current examples:

Seems moot with this written:

BUYER BEWARE NOW SELLING ON EBAY WARNING THESE ARE NOT MJJ WORKS OF ART- they are A Fraud - Jackson-Strong Alliance, Kathrine Jackson or the Michael Jackson Estate DO NOT accept or recognize these fake's as Michael Jackson's Fine Artworks.

There is a neat interview online with Brett and Mrs J and the hangar art.  One thing I specifically noted, was Brett says how in 1980's, Michael had Brett make special paper to draw on that was watermarked for him specifically for his art, so that his work could never be counterfeited.  He even ran out at one point, and had drawings on the back sides according to Brett.  He talks about this around the 4 minute mark.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EMH1R7Vic3o   But the artwork is discussed throught-out the video at different parts, all the way to the end of the video (if you want to skip some of Mrs. J's interview, you can speed up to the 35:00 mark where Brett starts talking again about the art - and they talk about what MJ's plans were for it.  It goes right to the very very end of the video so watch until the video stops on its own)

What about the Epperson coas with them though?

Maybe Steve's quote above applies?

'There is no such thing as 100% accurate authentication of items the authenticator didn't see signed. It's a judgment call. '

This would apply to any authenticator, Estate included.

I'd toss in his mom and art teacher to. Bet they could both be easily fooled by forgers. Impossible to accurately authenticate with 100% certainty without witnessing it yourself.

They aren't looking at the autographs Rick.

I think Brett Strong would have a database of the artwork MJ did in the hangar which is why he's saying don't buy any art that doesn't come from him or Katherine or the estate. Hopefully all artwork with a letter from either one of them would first go through Brett and his database.
In saying that though I'm sure michael drew a lot of other things in his own time at various places.
I'm still confused though. I wanted to maybe make a run at one of these because of the Epperson coa. Everyone agrees he is the best. But then everyone says these are forgeries?!
What should I do!!!
This is all confusing me though
In one breathe everyone says Epperson is the go to guy for Michael Jackson but these ones are fake.
He was pretty adamant that the ones he has seen are reall

Ahhhhhhh it's so confusing

Sam,

I completely understand your confusion.  No one can deny the words of Brett Strong and the Jackson estate.  But you do bring a valid point that Michael drew many other things including quick sketches at other time periods of his lifetime that Strong and the Estate don't know about.

I am confident that Roger knows a lot more than we all do in regards to the provenance of the drawings/signatures he has authenticated.  Perhaps we will never know the exact source and history of these art works and can only spectulate at this point of its authenticity as we are doing right now in these forums.

The artwork of Michael Jackson from the hangar is without a doubt some of his best we all have witnessed.  However, let's not fool ourselves.  Michael did less than stellar artwork and signatures including some of the quick sketches that are known to be authentic.

and im just curious as to who would really want to roll the dice on those and purchase them, now that we have information showing that the majority of the ones that have been shown recently have been proven not likely genuine or even worse, questionable?

AJ,

Just curious, when have they been proven NOT LIKELY GENUINE?

LOL....I guess the play on words means it can't be "proven" to be genuine or fraudulent as no TPA has the power to determine exact authenticity without witnessing the signature/drawing being completed......now WITH that being said, I would think that a statement from Brett Livestrong and the in-depth investigations done by some of the incredible people on this forum would be enough for ME (personally) Reasonable doubt, not to roll the dice on ANY of those items in question, despite what ANY TPA has to say about it.
