This is likely Michael Jackson's second-most sought-after signed album. This particular "BAD" album was originally purchased from R&R Enterprises (rr auction) in 2001, roughly 8 years before Michael's sudden passing and the crazy frenzy for the autograph of this cultural icon really took off.

The signed album comes with the original sales receipt from 2001, plus the original COA from R&R Enterprises and Bob Eaton. There is no picture of the album on the COA, although it is noted on the COA that the album was signed on the front in silver.

I don't know what year it was signed, but obviously it was sometime between 1987 and 2001. I think I am rightly assuming there were fewer forgeries of MJ items by 2001, eight years before he died. Of course, that does not mean this is authentic. It is amazing to think that in 2001, you could get this for $103.

What are your thoughts on the authenticity of the autograph? Was R&R authenticating generally good in 2001? All opinions are appreciated.

Here is a copy of the original receipt from 2001.

I could be wrong james... but I don't like this signature in my opinion its not authentic.

Thanks, Rob. I know there were several variations on MJ sigs over the years. I'll see if this fits a certain time period. I know that RR for years was considered pretty good. But, of course, there have been issues. I'll see what others think too. But I appreciate your and respect your opinion, Rob. Here, is an definite authentic MJ from 2003. So if the BAD was signed in 2001 (don't know for sure), it would be within a couple of years.

This one was PSA/DNA in 2003. It was on the back of a Polaroid photo that someone took in-person of MJ at Disneyland. MJ signed the photo on the back for the people at Disneyland. To me, I see some definite similarities, like the more rounded corners instead of the usually-seen sharper points, and the kind of the squiggly lines for the letters in the Jackson part. Not a perfect match, but some similarities maybe.

Hopefully more can chime in here and give their opinions..

But the signature just looks off to me. RR Auctions are one of the best in my opinion. Maybe the COA is original but is being put with a fake item to make it seem legit? I don't like it when you have a reliable COA but the picture of the item is not included. Or I could totally be wrong here..

No I know what you mean. If I could just find a copy of catalog #250 from 2001. I think that would have a picture in there. I do like the fact that it also comes with the original receipt, though still it's possible it could have been switched. I lean authentic, but I definitely could be wrong. The seller is a lawyer. Surely, a lawyer wouldn't deceive! Lol. My apologies to any lawyers on here.

I don´t like the sig either. I think it was on ebay recently, right? I believe I saw it there and decided not to place a bid....regardless of the COAs.

Yes, it could be that the LP does not "belong" to the paperwork...you would have to reach out to RR to check that with them.

If it´s the very same LP...I still wouldn´t want it. It looks way to slowly signed for a genuine MJ autograph imo.

If I remember correctly RR did have some authenticity issues way back in early 2000...but since they work with Roger they are pretty top notch regarding music autograpgs.

Thanks, A.B.
James,

Why don't you suggest that the seller send it to RR to see if they still think it's real? Authentication is much more advanced these days and they're very good about honoring their guarantee.

I have alot of old autograph catalogs. I took a quick look to see if I have cat. 250 from R&R and couldn't find it. I have many that are earlier than that.

Sorry

Hey, thanks Robert for checking. I appreciate it.
Thanks, Steve. I may do that, and see what he says.
