On December 2, Julien's Auctions is selling The Collection of Tompkins and Bush. The collection contains 465 lots of Michael Jackson memorabilia, 287 of them autographed.

Michael Bush and the late Dennis Tompkins were Michael Jackson's costume designers for 25 years, during Jackson's most successful period. They were the consignors of the signed Thriller jacket that Julien's sold for $1,800,000 in June 2011.

Almost all of the autographs in the Tompkins and Bush sale are a variation I'm not familiar with. I've only been looking at Jackson's autograph for a few years, though, and we have members here who have collected him for decades, so I'd appreciate your input and exemplars.

If you know Michael Jackson's autograph well, please look at a few images below from the auction and let me know what you think. Even better, browse the auction and upload any similar examples you have: http://www.julienslive.com/view-auctions/catalog/id/77/

Julien's is the world's premier auction house for Michael Jackson memorabilia, so they would know his autograph better than most of us. I'm just surprised I haven't seen this style before.

Thanks for your help.

Everyone:

Please stick closely to the topic of this discussion. You are welcome to start any other MJ discussions you want in the MJ group. I would love to thin out a lot of this because we need to focus on the autographs in the T&B sale.
Yes, Steve has done a level headed job. Great job by the community, too!
STATEMENT POSTED ON JULIEN'S FACEBOOK
STILL DOES NOT ADDRESS AUTHENTICITY OF THE AUTOGRAPHS.

ICONIC MAGAZINE STATEMENT

Regarding Michael Bush and Julien’s Auction Exhibition

"Do not judge a person, unless you have talked with them one on one, I don’t care what the story is" ~ Michael Jackson, 1993.

Michael Jackson uttered these words as he sat down to address many stories and rumours that had surrounded his life. In recent weeks, it is saddening to report that there have been stories and rumours spread about Michael’s friend of 25 years, Michael Lee Bush, in the wake of his auction of some of Michael Jackson’s most famous pieces and some lesser known items. The items in question are to be auctioned by Julien’s Auction house in Los Angeles on 2nd December 2012.

Whilst this may be distressing for some to witness, it is ultimately a decision that is beyond control of the fans. Museums have rejected these items numerous times over and the prospect of placing these items in a permanent residency would be a costly and strenuous affair that no individual could take on alone.
Michael Jackson kept many items from costumes to short film sets over the course of his life, all of which are now in the possession of the Estate of Michael Jackson, who presented an exceptional display both at the Official Exhibition at the O2 and at Fanfest in Las Vegas. Many other items Michael gave to his friends and colleagues, including his personal designers Michael Lee Bush and Dennis Tompkins. It is these items returned to Bush and Tompkins personally that will be going on auction.
To allow the fans one last chance to experience a piece of the magic, Michael Bush teamed up with Julien’s Auction to take the items on tour. When in London, the Iconic team were given unprecedented access to the items and helped to set up, change over and close the exhibition. To counter act some of the rumours, here is what our experiences allow us to know
- ALL the items are originals, worn by Michael Jackson.
Many of the items from tour show signs of wear and age as well as signs of repairs. Some of the later items, especially the Red shirt from ‘This Is It’ still has Michael’s make up smears in the collar and on the cuffs.
- ALL the items are handled with the up-most care and attention.
The Julien’s staff ensured that all the items arrived safely and securely, were protected and transported with care and attention.
- ALL the items were covered by insurance
- ALL the items were handled with gloves to preserve their condition.

By his own admission, Michael Lee Bush has had these items stored in his house for (some items) 20 years in boxes and in cupboards. He decided the time had come for someone else to enjoy them and treat them with the attention they so rightly deserve.
Julien’s Auction was chosen, no doubt for their long-standing commitment to celebrity memorabilia, their fantastic displays and their beautifully produced catalogues. Michael Jackson had worked with Julien’s Auction in the past to comprise his catalogue boxset for the items at Neverland, as well as a go between to source rare memorabilia for his personal collections.
At this very time, an auction is due to take place with another auction house, in London on 29th November, featuring Michael’s items obtained by a relative including the Suit Jacket from ‘This Is It’. The items are poorly displayed, the mannequins are filthy with dust and dirt, the outfits have been handled by the public and lastly NONE of the proceeds from these items will be going to charity. All a far cry from the standard and commitment one has come to expect from the team at Juliens.

The Iconic team have sat silently in the wings as much of these dramas have unfolded and with daily allegations and claims being laid, we felt it our duty as fans and a fan organisation to step in and say WE’VE HAD ENOUGH. We have been in direct contact with both Michael Lee Bush and Julien’s Auctions through-out the process and as the stories have continued to litter the community, it’s chilling to witness the behaviour and demeanour of some of Michael’s fans, who should know exactly how it feels to be accused and slandered. How are we all to continue to share Michael’s love and legacy with the world, the children and the unknowing if we not only continue to fight amongst ourselves, but blast those who hold the keys to parts of Michael’s world we thought was lost forever?!

We ask you to question, not judge. Enquire, not accuse. Think logically, not irrationally and fundamentally to have some respect.

After 25 years as Michael’s tailor and friend, It’s fair to say Michael Lee Bush has more than earned the respect he is given by a large number of the fans, it’s a shame that a small minority continue to channel a negative streak, when we have so little left since Michael’s passing.

Iconic have complete respect for the work and dedication Michael Lee Bush and Darren Julien and his team have shown to Michael Jackson’s items. We rest assured that Iconic readers are the type of people who will look at the facts and commitment displayed to Michael Jackson and all those who work to give Michael Jackson’s name a first class service.

Yeah, in a perfect world- I wish all this drama wasnt taking place. I want to rejoice and trust and celebrate Michael Jackson. Why do we have to believe something just because MLB and Juliens says so when its plain smack in our faces that its a lie. "Think logically- not irrational"- bold statement. That is what we are doing.

Charlotte, they turn truth on it head. They label, call us "crazy" when it is them crazed in their greed. I know you know that. I'm just very disgusted.  I don't know why I'm surprised. In the MJ justice seeking community, this happens at every turn.

"STILL DOES NOT ADDRESS AUTHENTICITY OF THE AUTOGRAPHS"

Course not. Everything but the pink elephant in the room. a.k.a. their shady deals and wheels.

Yeah, always the same :

1: Because MLB was MJ's tailor and friend for all these years and has a great reputation, then it's OK and REAL!

2: Because Julien's Auctions is a respectable big company, then it's OK and REAL!

Noone wants to look at the signature and realize they are fakes!!!

I am absolutely surprised that all these fans do not know their idol's signature!
they want an award?

they just need glasses, too bad you're not an optician anymore!

I am speechless at their utter audacity.  That piece of......filthy propaganda is the work of a spin master PR team - it is, it is.

Do you see NOW how they shamelessly use Michael as a shield to continue their crimes?  Turn truth on its head.  Attack the rational with their insanity.  Sociopaths every one of them.  Greed mongers.

I agree Wendy,,,,

I posted an excerpt from Tohme's declaration. Hope that's okay. If not I'll change it.  It couldn't be more relevant right now, though.
