I recently picked this card up at a shop based on the fact that it looks very close to most other Jordan autos that I have seen and it comes with a UDA hologram. This card was the only one they had and I think it would be odd for a forger to just only make one good looking auto to sell. In looking at this auto against others signed in the 1999 timeframe, I feel that this is an authentic autograph by Michael Jordan. The other piece that makes me further believe that this is a genuine auto is the UDA sticker that was with it. The only odd thing about the sticker is that it is attached to the toploader and not the card specifically which is how UDA generally does it nowadays. I am not certain if they would attach the sticker to the toploader at the customer’s request, or if they used to do it that way back in 1999. The great thing is that I contacted UDA and they confirmed that the hologram belongs to an item that was signed by Michael Jordan at one of his basketball camps on 07/14/1999. I wasn't able to attach a pic of that letter, but have it if need be. I have attached detailed close ups of the hologram and card for you to be the judge. The hologram does look like a genuine UDA hologram (stamped with no evidence of tampering) and I have not seen fake ones like this on the market. It might seem odd that the holo was not on the card, but why would someone peel a holo from a confirmed Jordan autographed item, just to put it with a fake Jordan autograph. I think the forgers usually take a holo from a different item hoping that the unsuspecting buyer will not check the number with UDA. Either way, I feel that this is a truly authentic autograph by the hand of Michael Jordan and will probably be sending it in to get authenticated in the near future but am looking for some of you with Jordan auto experience to give some opinions so I don't spend so much on the fees if most think it is fake. Thanks for looking and please email with questions!

So are you saying you think this is a fake hologram? Seems like that might be a little tough since that is kind of the point of the hologram and how it is made. The sticker numbers/letters are stamped into the hologram and it does have the Upper Deck logo within the hologram picture. If not, why would someone peel the genuine hologram off of a signed MJ item (doesn't matter what it is since it is authentic), and put it with a forgery? Seems like taking the authentication/value off of one authentic item to try to gain value on another? Maybe the item they move it to would have more value than the one already authenticated? Of course I'm still talking myself into it, but it doesn't make sense to me, where is the scammer profit coming from? Thoughts? Thanks by the way for your thoughts/insight.

$25 is your first clue. No authentic Jordan would sell at that price. And the M doesn't look right. And I have never seen an Upper Deck hologram on anything but the signed item itself. I have seen some strange items that have originated from the Jordan basketball camps. But I have a feeling that was just cover story for the peculiar placement of the hologram. I think somebody got their hands on a hologram from an authentic item and put it on the case. Very doubtful it is real.
I have seen one other UDA Jordan card with the hologram on the top loader, not on the card. While I do not claim to be an expert on Jordan, I have some knowledge of his autograph I think it may be authentic. Not sure if it is worth the additional $100 gamble for authentication. You might try it on Ebay and spend $10 for the PSA/DNA "Quick Opinion" which certainly has flaws but if they were to opine "Likely Genuine" then it would be worth risking the full authentication fee IMO.
Thanks again all for your comments. As for the price, it was in a pawn shop with a few other cards (but some were PSA/BGS graded, not anything worth buying). Not sure if they came in together or not. I wouldn't have picked it up, but it looked fairly close compared to other autos I have seen and with the sticker which looks genuine, I figured I would grab it before someone else does just to be able to do more research on it. The year of the card along with when UDA says an item with that holo was signed line up. Comparing it to other autos in the 1999 timeframe, I have seen multiple with the sharp sort of angles at the end of the M, but it is a little different than some I have seen. As for the quick opinion, I put an ebay auction up just so I could request the quick opinion (with a bunch of high def pictures) and they came back with "can't render an opinion" and gave my money back. Kind of odd to me since the pics were about as clear as you can get. Not sure if that means they don't want to touch it since the hologram situation is weird or if they truly couldn't make a confident decision. Either way, I have gotten about 50/50 on "good" to "no good" opinions on multiple boards, so I am really on the fence due to the high cost to send it in.........
