Years ago, I obtained a Playbill that was purportedly signed by all six members of Monty Python, along with their collaborators Carol Cleveland and Neil Innes. The seller said that he originally obtained them outside the theatre after the show. I'm curious as to whether or not they're authentic. Most of the signatures have faded, but hopefully they're still legible enough to verify.
Also, about a decade ago, I wrote to John Cleese and Terry Jones, and received signed photos back. Since I'm asking about Monty Python, I thought I'd ask about those as well. When I was younger, I had a lot of trust in TTM signatures, but now I'm thinking that a huge amount of them must be secretarial.
Thanks so much for your help!

Both photographs are authentic IMO. I will need to look at the playbill later to see better images of the signatures
the ttm from john Cleese is authentic but don't know about the playbill because these autographs looks different from the ones i know although the john Cleese looks good again so why would the others be fake ones?. when signed on the street or just signed standing it make sense the autographs are rushed. try to find other autographs from the same time era and compare these to get a better look at it.
Thanks so much to both of you for your opinions! It's very much appreciated!
For the playbill - John Cleese, Michael Palin, Graham Chapman, Terry Jones, and Neil Innes are all authentic IMO. Graham Chapman is a real rarity and this is a really rare piece
I'm so happy to hear that! Thank you for taking the time to evaluate this. This is a really special item for me, so your help means a lot to me. Thanks again!
I'm sure the Playbill is OK. Always a but sceptical about "through-the-mails" but I assume they are OK too.
For comparison, here is a group of MP autographs that I obtained personally at the stage door of the Theatre Royal in Norwich. I assume it was at their show of 24 May 1974, when I was around a week short of my 12th birthday. I remember my parents were pretty liberal in allowing me to stay up after 21.00 to watch the TV shows. Being 11, I wasn't concerned about getting everyone on one page. Once I got into my teens I stopped collecting in-person and never really started again.
As a side-note, David Bowie appeared at the same theatre three nights before MP. I wish I'd been old enough to have gone to that. I know I was into him at about that age - I think I still have a huge Ziggy badge that I bought back then.
Very nice examples
Wow, those are fantastic! And extra special because you got to receive them in person! What a great set!
It's too bad you didn't get to meet Bowie. He's one of those people that had such an electric presence, that just being near him must have been special. I would have loved to have met him.
Monty Python is my special area of expertise. I’ve been collecting Python autographs in person and through the mail for nearly 4 decades. Having said that, it gives me great pleasure to report that all of your autographs are indeed authentic. The signatures on the playbill are correct for mid-1970s exemplars, and I assume they were signed after one of the City Center performances back in 1976 (where the Pythons, with the occasional exception of Graham when he was a bit worse for wear, were all pretty good about signing). Your Terry J and John Cleese TTM photos are also authentic and represent good later era signatures. All in all, it’s a beautiful collection. Enjoy it with confidence!
Thanks so much for the reply! It's very helpful to compare, and you're right, the placement is exactly the same. That must have been a great memory! I would have loved to have seen them live. I was only 5 when Graham died, so I never had the chance to see them as a group. I'm glad you were able to go! It's a fantastic set!
