Did it actually sell? The minimum bid was $40,000 but says that the only bid it got was $30,000.

Even at 30k its a heap of money, i actually thought the auction was set at 40 opening bid. I'll have to check.

30 thousand was the minium bid, it didn't reach the reserve, but its still incredible!!

Yes. I think it's worth every penny of $40,000...but I assume that's before buyers premium.

Jimi hendrix arrest documents fetch big dollars as well.
Any of these guys from the 27 club or 60s bands signed in the era, are all great investments.

I have read that these legal documents belong to the government and they have in the past seized such things. Comment?

This is a bail bond document, not a government doc.

Here's an excerpt from an article from when this document was sold at auction in 1991:

MIAMI — A Circuit Court administrator has asked for an investigation into the disappearance of 43 documents from the court file detailing the 1969 obscenity arrest of the late rock star Jim Morrison.

The original bail bond sheet signed 22 years ago in Miami by The Doors' lead singer, James Douglas Morrison, sold for $15,950 at Sotheby's New York auction house in June.

''I'm pretty sure the documents were stolen from our files,'' said Clerk of the Courts Marshall Ader, who reported the theft to Miami and Metro-Dade police last month.

Ader said he wants the FBI to investigate the case.
