Need opinions on Leonardo Dicaprio and ALEJANDRO INARRITU signatures

Hi guys, new member here. I've been following this website for some time now and really appreciate the opinions and advice from everyone on here. You guys have even saved me from buying something fake from the ebay seller probstein123 (THANK YOU).

Long story short, I'm an avid and experienced collector of MMA memorabilia but fairly new to everything else. I've been scammed before and while it was a hard learning lesson, I've learned a lot from it and got my money back.

What I'm currently looking at are two posters signed by actor Leonardo Dicaprio and director Alejandro Inarritu. Both of them are PSA/DNA certified and both certification numbers show up in their data base. The ebay seller is nicksportsautographs.


I know that PSA/DNA is probably the most legit in terms of certification of autographs, but I have also heard (not sure if it's true or not) that they have certified some fakes.

I feel like Dicaprio hardly signs anything and Inarritu doesn't seem to be the most well known director in the United States so I'm almost wondering if these somehow got passed and certified by PSA/DNA and they are actually fake.

Can anyone give a rookie any opinions, information or advice?

The biggest problem I have with both items is that the signatures are both signed in dark areas and are hard to see. Even if they are authentic I would not buy these due to poor placement of signatures.

Thank you so much for responding. Being that they are PSA/DNA certified and show up in the database, what is your personal opinion on the chances they are legit?

PSA/DNA has been known to make mistakes but there is a better chance they are authentic than non-PSA items. I cannot see the signatures well enough to form an accurate opinion on their authenticity. I would need to see them in person to see the parts of signatures in the dark areas to get a better idea.

Ughh, this is driving me crazy. I want a Leo D signature so bad and these are 2 of my favorite movies. I just don't want something that slipped by PSA/DNA and they mistakenly passed it off as authentic. Well anyways, thanks so much for your help. I'm going to wait and hope that some others will comment and offer their opinion. Thanks again.

If there is a way to doctor the photo so that we can see the signatures more clearly that would help greatly.

That might well be done, but JMS1223 has a point - these have such bad placement an awful contrast they should be very, very discounted, and I bet they aren't. I suggest looking for better items. Authentic and desirable are two different things. Even if genuine, are they desirable?

Dam, you bring up a really really good point and are now making me strongly reconsider purchasing these. I'm going to see if I can't Photoshop/doctor the images so you guys can get a better picture of the signatures. Thanks for your help. I really appreciate it.

I could as well, but even after "doctoring" - if they are genuine, they are undesirable in my opinion. Are they very, very discounted? They should be I think.

There are several threads about this type of item - contrast/placement examples in "A,B and C" post particularly. Pete also suggests being able to see the autograph -  wise, seemingly simple advice.

The Leo D one is 650 or best offer and the Inarritu one is 250 or best offer

Ok I've doctored up the images and this was the best I could do as I suck with Gimp. At least the signatures are a little easier to make out and I hope this helps. I hope you guys will give some more opinions/advice. I really appreciate everything you guys are doing for me.

I hate to say it and I'm no expert, but that doesn't really look like Leo's signature as I can't make out any of the characters in it (unless he literally just scribbles his name) and I'm completely unfamiliar with Inarritu's signature. What do you guys think?

Do you think it's legit? I posted a reply above with color and contrast adjustments for both above. What do you think of the Leo one?
